 Hi

I am on my first playthrough, and have just got out from the Deep roads, and my sis who was my only healer, had died due to the blight. my question is, can i finish the game with no healer? or have i got time to make 1 of my other mages a healer (im level 13) they are both dps atm

If you could answer with no spoilers about the rest of the story that would be great

Thanks

Ofc you can finish it. Buy lots of pots. Will be harder for sure but far from impossible.

Bethany sucks as a healer anyway tbh, 40 secs cooldown on heal aint that great anyway haha

Anyone else get more heals? apart from yourself if your a mage?

Later in the game you'll be able to craft grenades that can revive fallen party members. Remember that craftable health potions are quite more powerful than the default health potions (80% regen vs 60%) and they all share the same cooldowns.
There's no much point to buying regular health potions because the treasure system will let you loot additional potions whenever you need some.

Anders is the only NPC capable of direct healing other than Bethany. And he's better at it with his spec including elements of spirit healer.
You also have some more specific healing options, reaver talents, there's a poison that makes your attacks drain life, Merril also has an aura that drains life from surrounding enemies to heal her.

The only other mage with any healing ability is Anders. I really think Bioware screwed up on this one making only two of the 3 mages have any healing ability and then killing off or sending away one of the mages for most of the game.

I have specced anders into dps as didn't plan to use him much tbh, but obviously i wasn't expecting Bethany to go die on me lol.

I'm tempted to start again due to not liking half specced companions, (anders dps till lvl 13, thn healing thereafter) but am unsure

If you have the black emporium, you can get the Maker's sigh and respec Anders that way.

Anders is a far better healer than bethany anways.

but no, with proper crowd control and planning, you shouldnt need a dedicated healer

It's important to know that anders requires a certain sustained talent to use healing spells (other than basic heal) It's called Panacea, and it enables his mass-heal and his revive spells. It also gives a bonus to healing. HOWEVER, he can't cast any aggressive spells in this mode. You have two options here. Either make him full-on support, with buffs, glyphs, heals, and other sustained modes (spirit weapons or something) He won't need a lot of raw mana because he won't be casting very often, and his sustained abilities will be pretty helpful. You can put him on heal tactics, or make some custom healing/buffing tactics, and he'll be pretty micro-free. Alternatively, if you want to micro anders, you can split him between heals and damage spells. You will need to either turn off panacea, or switch to vengeance, which gives him bonus to damage, and is the root for a lot of his other nasty effects. You could then spec him to be elemental or nature or whatever you want, but remember that if **** hits the fan, you've gotta swap modes THEN heal. You really can't leave him on his own, and will have to switch back to him fairly often, since his only healing ability in this mode is the default heal spell, and it doesn't have any buffs if you're not in panacea.

yep, pretty stupid. You MUST take the murderer with you if you want a healer, unless you're one yourself...while we're givin 2 rogues plus a $7 dlc rogue.

Least they coulda done was allow Merril to pick up some creation healing if not spirit healer itself..but whatever.

but yes you CAN finish it w/o a healer..if you have a lot of pots, get lucky, and play on lower difficulties.

I can, from personal experience, confirm that meredith actually becomes challenging if you fight her without any potions left, and without a character capable of healing, on nightmare :<

On normal mode, straight 4x dps > all. No tank, no healer.

3 archers and a mage works great.
