It's funny that the thing that bugged me the most, namely the redesign of the Qunari is the thing that I got used to the quickest. Sure the Qunari having horns is a retcon, but it's one I can accept.

The dwarves were redesigned? Really?!! They look about the same to me. The only difference I've noticed is that apparently Kirkwall has no female dwarves whatsoever. :)

Now to the redesign that actually annoys me: the elves. What was wrong with the elves looking like regular humans who happen to have pointy ears? They looked fine in Origins and didn't really need this overhaul we got in Dragon Age II. Now they look like rodents!!! Every time I interact with an elf I think "look at mouse person". Please change them back for Dragon Age III. They're just weird and ugly-looking now.

I agree with you on the elves, in fact somewhere else on the forums (don't recall where) someone compared them to the Navi from Avatar and it's uncanny how close the resembalance is. Though unlike you I think the whole Qunari redesign is just plain bonkers. I mean a touchup or a slight tweak is one thing, but adding horns to the species? Where was the logic behind this? Was Sten just some genetic freak. Not likely considering the way Qunari think, the fact that he was a commander in the Qun, they wouldn't have had a genetic anomaly in that position. So basically they just said to hell with Origins, I want horny giants! As for the dwarves, they seem to be more like "little people" now and less like hardy, tough dwarves. Just my thoughts on it though, so feel free to diagree, theres no reall right answer.

Fix the elves, I loved the way were more humanized than most games make elves, but then they jumped ship. Fix the face, shrink the ears & bulk up the body. Bioware I am Disappoint

The elves for me were hit and miss. Some looked good/fine great while others just looked out of place.
Some of them looked like they belonged while others did not and I found that the females has this problem the most, to me.

The males were much more consistent to me.

I didn't like the darkspawn and elf redesign, but the qunari I was okay with. They worked the lore out origionally to say that some qunari are born hornless, maybe this comes from mixed human qunari children or maybe it is just a mutation to show they are evolving away from it, either way I was okay with them having horns up until I saw the horns on the Arashok. With horns that big he needed a neck four sizes larger than it was.

See I was okay with the old elf design because it made sense to me in the extended lore, Elves breeding with humans always breed human. The nearly human look of the elf in DA:O made elves look like some ancient off shoot of humanity that was to close to being human, so that mating with humans was enough to wash out the rest. The new elves are more like D&D elves and they make me expect elf human children to not look totally human.

I hate the darkspawn redesign, well and truly hate it. I was really upset to not see any female dwarves at all. I need to see the females before I can truly judge the dwarf change, I think. And the elves...well, the female elves, since the males mostly avoided it, were just... pushed a bit TOO far, in my opinion.

I'm ok with the qunari redesign as long as they put some hornless bronze qunari in future games. for the elves, i didn't like most of their faces. personally i think they should look like slimmer humans with pointy ears and have eyes that glow in the dark like in the books.

The horns for the Qunari were weird, but I got used to that. The Elves look hideous, not a fan at all. And the Darkspawn just look stupid

The dwarves has changed ?!?

The Qunari are awesome this way compared to the Unhorned ''Sten''. they feel unique, interresting, feral and completely aliens in this world. So they fit perfectly in the background. peoples don't like 'em (in-game) and there is a crapload of reasons : they age 7 feets white-as-snow horned feral Communists warriors ! **** YEAH !

I like the new elves : more original and more distinguished from the humans. and fit perfectly in the ''We are the servants'' role.

Elves are good, no longer look like short people
Qunari also look really cool, no longer just tall people with dark skin.

Elves are much better like this. They are almost like aliens... they feel non-human.

In DA:O (and in most other RPGs) they are just humans with pointier ears. I always wondered how humans could be prejudiced against them when they probably can't even tell the difference.

The only change I did not like was the elves. They really do look like the race from avatar. Not the end of the world by any means. I thought Merrill was the best of the bunch.

Same way they can be prejudiced against other members of their own race.

I like the new elves... they should look a little alien. Wanting them to look like humans with long ears baffles me... why would you want them to look so cookie-cutter?

The problem with them looking like humans with pointy ears, is that they looked like Humans with pointy ears.

I don't think the issue people have with appearance is whether they look cookie-cutter, but rather whether they look pleasant to the eye. The latter obviously being down to personal tastes, but from the divided reactions it's equally obvious the redesign was quite a miss with part of the players.

Hated the new elves. I'm fine with them putting a little 'alien' in the alienage. But not anorexic area 51 aliens style. They look like 'Paul', (from the new movie) with hair and pointy ears. Completely got over my feelings about not being able to play elves when I saw them.

But loved the new Quinari looks. And the 'Oxmen' nickname was just perfect.

I did NOT like the darkspawn redesigned. They weren't even remotely scary anymore, unless you find clowns scary.

The dwarves didn't look any different, at least the males we met. Loved Varric's look.

The elves... I really did like the new elf look. Seriously. They don't look like skinny kids anymore, and that's a very good thing. I liked how their facial structure was different form humans, too, with high-bridged noses and pointier faces. And how could you say Merrill was ugly?! She was adorable! I particularly liked how the one half-elf we met did have some elven characteristics. Way cool.

Yeah, not a fan of the elves. Varric was hot though.

It's great that Dragon Age II has a distinct artstyle. I thought the elves looked okay - I'm so tired of pretty humans with pointy ears. I don't want Vulcans, dammit. I want wood people! Some of the elves were uglier than others... well a lot of them were, but there were examples of really good looking elves. Merrill is the obvious example.

And yeah, the new Qunari look is badass. I keep trying to imagine how Sten would look now. Still early in Act II.

^ Dude, you picked possibly the ass-ugliest elf in the entire game to make a point about the entire elf re-design?
You've just won cherry-picker of the millennium! Speech! Speech! On second thought...

I like the re-design of the elves... for the most part. There were some truly horrible-looking ones though. If they all had a facial structure similar to Fenris, I'd be fine.

When I encountered an elf in game for the first time, all I honestly thought was that someone watched too much Avatar. Didn't like it.

Didn't see much of a change in the dwarves.

Now, the Qunari, at first, it was kinda off putting seeing them with horns like that but, eventually, I came to like it. The horns added some style to them.
