LotSB at 800points still felt a tad short and the price may have put some people off expecting a small DLC pack.

I'd say 560 points is the DLC sweet spot, at least for Mass Effect-type DLC.

To be honest I've only ran through FO3 and the DLC's once and while lengthy they were quite boring from what I remember (only one I liked was Point Lookout), point being that even though some DLC's are priced the same doesn't neccesarily mean they're all the same length and of similar content.

OK, firstly, your Shep is nice.

Secondly; I agree we can't compare them too much, but you get an idea of how much content you should be getting for your money. Lair of the Shadow Broker could have been made to be better value simply by adding more weapons, more armour pieces or something quite small like that - Something that'd sell for ~160 points. When you get down to it, the ME2 story DLCs are rather linear and set, although you do get to make choices, so it would have been nice if for the 800 points we got a little more than we did. Don't get me wrong, though, I don't regret buying LotSB.

Honestly the blasted squad respec station was worth that extra 160 points to me. Not even to mention the follow up Liara romance thing. I think the length combine with quality and the little extras mad Lair well worth the extra 160 points.

I agree completely what we DID get from LotSB was absolutely awesome I did feel it was rather short compared to some of the Fallout DLC that also cost 800 points.

It seems like a lot of people are disappointed already in the Arrival because of its cheaper price.

My question is what did everyone REALISTICALLY expect?

I saw people saying quotes from people who were expecting hours of additional gameplay and some major plot decisions when quite frankly such expectations are unrealistic when viewed from a programming standpoint and how Bioware would have to account for those who did play the DLC and who didn't when importing into ME3. I am not saying that its not possible but it just doesn't seem likely.

1.9gb expansion pack. approximately 10 hours of content. 2400 points/30 dollars. I'm not disappointed with Arrival, but its not unprecedented for Bioware to release an expansion pack on those terms. Awakening was 1.9 gb, 15 hours of content and 40$. so I think my hopes were within reason.

Look at the in game hints. Before LotSB, Liara talks about taking him DOWN. Then we got DLC which did just that.

The VS, on the other hand, tells you to screw off. So for the love of everything good, may he/she not be in Arrival.

.... or if they are, there better be a renegade interrupt....

I got hours of additional gameplay out of Lair of the Shadow Broker. I think that my first playthrough, on Insanity, took about 2 and a half hours. Kasumi was nowhere near that, so that's my concern with the cheaper price.

When I say hours I expect 4-8 hours on normal difficulty.  Not 2.5 hours on insanity.

2.5 hours isnt a lot at all.  I could finish it in less than an hour on normal which is typical for most people.  I do wish LotSB would have given you access to  unique weapons.

Given the cheap price I expect that the Arrival can be completed in less than 3 hours, which is fine with me.

I believe I read somewhere quite a while ago that companies like BioWare would prefer to release their content for free but other companies like Microsoft want their palms greased for allowing say, BioWare, to put their product on things like XboxLive, and that expense is then passed onto the consumer. There might be some inaccuracies there or it might be inaccurate in it's entirety, I'd quote the source but it was so long ago I wouldn't know where to start.

So take this as you will, or a grain of salt, either, or.

This is one reason why it's understandable that a developer might only produce for the PC. Generally they have a lot more control.

Correct, Microsoft have limits to how much free content a company can release on Xbox Live Marketplace per game.

I doubt they would offer something like Overlord or LotSB for free.

Dragon Age was a longer game, though, so Awakening was a longer expansion. 10hrs of content for ME2 more than half the time I spent on my first playthrough. Scale it down to 3-4hrs and 1200p pack and you're talking a more realistic content pack.

I have to say, LotSB was so awesome I'd have happily spent twice as much to get it and been satisfied. It's easily the best thing to come out of ME2.

... interesting - as it's so similar to some of the loyalty missions in the main game in a lot of respects.

YEAAAH!

Just noticed that the DLC is coming out soon.

Hopefully it can wash away the horrible taste that DA2 left in my mouth.

Really? I didn't know that, pardon my ignorance but why is this? Shouldn't it be up to the game company to decide how much to charge for their DLC's?

Another Question for anyone who can answer. Why was LOTSB so big, memory wise, what was it 1.2GB? or something like that, for about 1-2 hours gameplay, Shivering Isles added about 15hours gameplay and it was only 995MB give or take. I just don't understand why LOTSB is so big for such a small package. Well not small but you know what I mean.

Finally, does anyone know or think that your game decisions will make an impact in Arrival because I deleted my finished ME2 save game and imported a 100% finished ME1 level 60 character into ME2 with all DLC's etc so that I could have a complete playthrough with all messages etc from ME1, and the thing is, I'm not very far into ME2 yet I'm only on Omega and I won't have it beaten before Arrival arrives :) so do you guys think I should complete SM before tackling Arrival or just play it as soon as it becomes available in the game, because I dont think I'll be able to wait for very long playing ME2 for the umpteenth time when I ahve a new DLC to be played.

I apologise for the length of this post.Image IPB

LOTSB size versus Shivering.

Can be influence by many things, but the most common are :
Audio quality, pre-rendered cinematic, character texture and model more complex than Shivering. And also the tecnology they use for the games is not the same.

Wow, quite a debate for the price and size!

I don't care, I wanna continue with my favorite Shep in another new DLC, where apparentl there's a very spécial mass rellay and where Hackett will finally appear.
And music, I wanna hear it, LotSB was soo badass, and this one will be too!

In some ways but you also have to consider the cost for MS that goes into putting content on xbox live.  That storage space and bandwidth costs arent free. Thats why there will be a charge on xbox live, because eventhough Bioware developed it, MS is the one that has to maintain it.  Same with the PS3 version.  This was one of the beefs that Valve software had with Xbox live in regards to PC users getting free content vs having to pay on xbox live.

I can understand that but I would have thought all the membership and microsoft points that people buy would be sufficient to keep xbox live up and running, then again I dont fully appreciate the sheer size of xbox live and the amount of work and money it must cost to run.
