Hi,

im playing at the moment my 2. Playtrough to see the story from pro templar side. I took this time Rogue, Dual Wield, and will go mostly do single damage. Fenris will be my tank, and merril, thanks to a mod, will be my healer. I just cant decide if i want Isabella, thanks to the same mod stated, or Sebastian as my Archer. And in Archery, does Archery cause Friendly Fire, or is Friendly Fire only restricted to Mages Area of Effect Spells?

For Isabella stands her All hands on Deck spell - its an additional AoE. Sebastian got more single damage and buffs my damage, too, with his skill. So i really cant decide.

And does someone know this: Bloodmagic Amulets, Belts and Rings, do they work on Merril? Or are they only designed for BM-Hawke?

And a last question, a question about <3.
I cannot decide which one i shall Romance. Isabella or Fenris. I really like their humor. Does anyone know if i romance one of them, will they get as whiny as merril or anders got, or will they be fun as they are now?

Friendly fire transcends all disciplines. Hail of arrows is particularily dangerous because the animation is not as flashy so you might not realize your gem of an archer has dumped it on your party before it is too late.

Archer's lance will hit targets in a line. AIs have no qualms about firing through allies (usually your tank). This is problematic as well because it can be upgraded for a bonus v. Brittle targets so I'd advise careful control of any cold spells that could cluster both brittle enemies and allies.

I also think there is a thread around here where a Bioware poster confirmed that Merril does get the blood magic bonuses but I can't say 100% on that one.

Haven't romanced Isabela or Fenris - but from the friendship dialogues Fenris is the most overtly needy of the two.

Merrill does benefit from Blood Magic items, I am 100% sure.

I haven't romanced Isa (although I did sleep with her) or Fenris yet, but Fenris seems a little too emo for me, so I'd go with the pirate.

The biggest threat in Nightmare is not the enemies; its your party! Avoid AoE as much as possible and make sure you manaully set them since your allies have no issues with dumping it right on top of you.

Fenris means heavy aoe dmg in melee; with one rogue, you can monitor where he is and try not to get hit too much, with 2 rogues you will have to micro manage every seccond of combat or suffer massive damage from Fenris.

If you want 2 rogues, you're better off with Aveline and not Fenris (bodyguard is underrated) On Nightmare Varric is a better choice than Isabela, his personal tree is perfect for Nightmare since it has 0 AoE.

He made Isabela ranged, so his melee unit would just be Fenris and Hawke.

You don't want Fenris anywhere near your rogue then, especially if you use cleave, WW etc. Isabella is mostly dead weight on NM if you already intend to play a DW rogue (get an extra mage really). You will be infinitely better than her, especially later on, speccing into assassination. As far as archers go and in my very humble opinion, Sebastian while cool, is overshadowed by Varric, in terms of personal tree (and Bianka is easily one of the better weapons out there, make sure you socket it early on).
