I'm quite confused by her stats:
- Why so much strength for so many archery talents and high cunning ?
- No Trapmaking ?
- No stealth ?
Which route should I take ?
Thanks for your advices...

you should kill her, or better yet sleep with her then kill her.

Her strength isn't that high. By default, it's not even high enough for Drakeskin.

Strength increases bow-damage but once you get Lethality it doesn't matter anymore. She's going to need ~20 strength by the end of the game anyway to equip good leather armour so you will be okay in a couple levels.

She doesn't really need stealth as she is meant to be an archer rogue. She needs a bow with Rapid Aim asap because if she doesn' thave rapid aim her dps will be kind of terrible.

She needs lethality because she will be stacked with cunning (her inspiration bonus is cunning). I maxed out her bard talents but in retrospect the only one I ever really used was Song of Valor and would have been better off doing more archer talents but the only talents that seemed important in archery was the scattershot and the suppressing fire trees.

I never even bother teaching her Melee archer because if she ever got aggro she could dirty fighting or below the belt and kite until my tank picked aggro up again. I made her second specialization Ranger which cranked her dps up alot when she added a wolf to the equation. I was a champion so the wolf pet had good attack bonuses.

Just build up her Bard tree and the bottom 2 archer trees and you're good to go. Captivating Song is godly. Also cap out her poison making and have her use bombs.

She's a godlike archer with a decent bow. I had her doing 260dmg with arrow of slaying (granted, I was playing on casual at the time) and Pinning shot is very useful against bosses. Focus on poison making to take full advantage of the bombs/poisons.

lets see what to do with her.

1. goto http://dragonage.gul...rity_hotfix_101 and get the dex fix its a beta but it will make her arrows hit harder

2. spec her as bard/ranger for the pet

3. she isn't a melee rogue use her as ranged

4. song of valor is your friend.

5. did i already say she isn't a melee rogue.

6. cunning figures into lockpicking so some dumb reason.

What skill should figure into lockpicking?

You don't really need much dexterity or strength... It seems like the kind of skill that requires practice, experience, and fox-like slyness to master.  Cunning seems as a good a stat as any.

What others have said. I've had her in my main party all game long (very close to the end now) as a dedicated archer/ranger, and also had her doing all my lockpicking. She does decent damage and short of a full wipe, she almost never dies. And level 4 ranger is pretty godly, I've had that bear tank low grade bosses on occasion.

Her damage is very unimpressive but some of the archery and bard talents are good. If you don't have another rogue in the party, you should try to give her 3 talents in stealth, too, it can be very useful (much better than lockpicking, in my opinion)

If you use her as an archer/bard, cunning + lethality is a must. Otherwise you'd be wasting points in strength to get her to dps appreciably well. I didn't go more than 22 str, 34+ dex..rest in cunning and willpower. My rogue does more overall damage in any given fight, but Leliana is the hardest hitting member in my party right now.  Don't bother taking her melee, by the time you get her she's pretty committed to archery

Hmmm what? Between her and my un-skilled rogue with high dex and good bows.. both were routinely hitting for 60ish damage at ranges well beyond those of spells... and once they get into a range to use spells you can use rapid aim to pepper them full of a lot of 40ish hits..

The range of 170ish on the longbow means that you have a long time to shoot undamaged...

Have you ever watched someone pick a lock? Tell me it doesn't require significant dexterity. ;)

Leliana's damage is okay, it's just that she suffers from the same problem that all ranged rogues suffer from, damage only becomes viable later in the game. Once she has all the bow skills she should do fine; try to get scattershot early so you can stun groups of enemies before they see you. Oh and take away her melee weapon, she has no melee skills so you have to invest more points to make her usable in melee than with a bow.
