So I am playing on Nightmare, about to go on the expedition... Can I do it with a Dagger Rogue, Varric, Bethany, and Anders?

So I am going into the Deep Roads with this party for role-play purposes. Nightmare so far has been a stiff, if fair challenge, but I've always had a tank. Now with this party, I have 3 ranged characters and a DPS specialist. How's the outlook?

Short answer: yes

Long answer: it will be very very painful; make sure your rogue does the most damage, get agro, then kite while your 3 range classes deal with them. Double cone of cold should make adds manageable if you got those.

Depends on how you have everyone specced but it should be doable. That's the exact party I just used myself in my second playthrough. Couple spots were a bit rough without a tank and required quite a bit of kiting. The ancient rock wraith was a whole lot easier than I expected it to be though.

It will be very difficult to beat the Deep Roads boss with that party composition.

You need at least one 2H warrior, Fenris, instead of Bethany. I took Avelline and I regretted it because Fenris would have saved me several hours of attempts to beat the Deep Roads boss.

And put a point or two into Archery for your DW Rogue.

If you have the Dualist specialization, I think it'll be easy, provided you don't get gibbed by something.

You would go with Dualist over Assassin for the first Rogue specialization?

Can you elaborate?

Assassinate + Anihilate can deliver tens of thousands of damage on BRITTLE enemies.

Actually the ancient rockwraith is very easy with that party.  Just go all out on it when its in the middle between the laser light shows.

Is he going to be high enough level to do that, though?

IIRC I went into the Deep Roads at level 7 or 8 and then reached level 10 during the Deep Roads. I was able to get Mark of Death, Bloodlust, Pinpoint Strikes and then Assassinate at level 10. If you have an extra tome or ability point when you get to level 10 you can also get Anihilate.

Make sure to get the Tome of Physical Technique from Hubert's Goods before going to the Deep Roads because it will be gone in Act 2.

Same party composition. Took me two tries to take down the rock wraith, but I'd say it's far from impossible. Just make sure varric is specced to reduce aggro, especially if you're not a Shadow.

Oh cool, I just made a thread asking about this exact thing, except on hard not nightmare.
I remember the spider boss hitting really hard on my warrior, How easy is that boss with two rogues, two mages?

Also, is there any specific spec I need? I have the money to use that respec item from black imporium for each member before going on.
