Why do I get the feeling that Arrival is going to be a separately selectable dlc that isn't playable during ur ME 2 save but rather selectable as a new game from the menu with an import option in the way dragon age does that?

Because that's how other DLC has worked, right? LotSB is post-SM DLC yet can be done before the SM.

Arrival will not be a separate piece of DLC.

I know but don't you think it seems a bit weird. I mean imagine if you could do this dlc way before the suicide mission - gonna be a bit weird isn't it? I mean killing the collectors is important but if u knew about the reapers invading u certainly wouldnt be going after the collectors by yourself anymore.

In canon I'd see it as post SM. but Bioware wants players to play their DLC's at any point in the game. You'll simply get different dialogue depending what level in the game you are.

Thats exactly why it could end up being set a long while after the suicide mission and selectable as new game import save. It's looking like the thing is 2 days before ME 3 takes place.

It could pull a really cheap move where basically its set so long after the SM mission that other characters have moved onto other things and shepard is alone when Hackett finds him.

Tbh I'm keeping my hopes low for this DLC. It's not that I don't apprechiate it its exciting. But I'm envisioning a really short DLC, that really just has you on ur own, rescue some person, oh the reapers are coming, lets blow up the relay, right they'll be redirected to earth and thats it. I feel that it will get kicked down in reviews in the face of the more expensive Lair of the Shadowbroker as I get the feeling everything that was important about the DLC we will know about it before we play it. The same thing that happened with Witch Hunt.

If this DLC is story-related, then it might be BioWares way of Shepard "rejoining the Aliance". I suppose if this is what is going to happen, then Mass Effect 3 will probably start a few months in the future and just give a brief background that Shepard re-joined the Alliance after helping Hackett. After all.. Shepard is wearing "N7" armour in the Mass Effect 3 trailer. Also the Mass Effect 3 description says... "commander Shepard, an Alliance marine, must...", so who knows :)

What would really make a meal out of the DLC is a suprise visit from the VS and basically the same treatment it at least got story wise as Liara did in Lair of the Shadowbroker. That would excuse it being a short dlc where you don't really learn much. With this DLC not coming before the trailer for ME3. The suprise that the reapers are coming sooner than expected has already been and gone.

Or maybe Cerberus is really still part of the Alliance and Hackett is King of the Hill.

Since this is the final for ME2, it is going to have to start bringing all the plot-threads and loose ends together so ME3 can tie them all up neatly.

Unless Shepard dies again, I doubt that characters will leave him, they know the Reapers are emerging out of Dark Space and that they are headed for The Milky Way. So I really doubt that they would go off and do other things, they're in it for the long run I think :)

In ME 2 "The Arrival" Shepard has to rescue an female Undercover-Agent who has maybe evidence about a pending reaper invasion. .... Admiral Hackett ...

Again ... this WON´T be the "Arrival" ... it´s only some "around" it ...

I guess, they won´t put the "INVASION" into a short DLC ... this will be something for the beginning of MASS EFFECT 3.

Because not all people buy this PDLC, the real invasion can´t be a DLC story thing ...

Good Lord. Blessed are the pessimistic for they are never disappointed, but that's really sad.

Eh, like "Who is Armistan Banes," for instance?

I'm a little bit concerned. Why isn't this 800 Microsoft points? Does that mean this is going to be a really small DLC?

To be fair, Overlord was 560 points and while it did not bridge the gap between Mass Effect 2 and 3, it was worth every penny / Microsoft point.  If Arrival is on par with Overlord (with less driving), then I'd be fine.  I would love a massive expansion for Mass Effect 2 but that's obviously not going to happen.

I know mate I'm usually opimistic about these things. But I'm just assuming that its exactly what we've seen in the screenshots. I do apprechiate the DLC its nice to have DLC tieing things together.

New CDN post is up:
“Evidence continues to mount that the system of mass relays attributed to the Protheans predate their civilization. Dr. Aurana T'Meles of the University of Serrice, a one-time skeptic of the claim, now says she's a convert. "This team has been meticulous in dating relays from many locations," she says in her findings. "It is not their responsibility to hypothesize who created the relays, only to isolate the eras of their construction." Such hypotheses abound and usually feature disappeared species like the arthenn or zeioph. Nearly all have been ruled out since they did not coexist with the oldest of the relays. Dr. Amanda Kenson, team lead for the initial discovery, could not be reached for comment at broadcast time.”

Chris or anyone else at BioWare: can you let us know if this will be like all other DLC in that it is playable either pre or post-suicide mission? Any advantage in playing one over the other?

Well at best you will be suprised and enjoy ten times more because of you pessimistic attitude or at worst get what you expect it.

Well, hush my mouth. I'll have to find a previous post of mine and apologize. I told a forum member it wasn't until tomorrow.

Possibly. My gut says EA's found a DLC pricing sweet spot at seven bucks, though.
