NOT A BRIDGE? wtf i mean cmon bioware! ok it sounds cool but still abit of a let down...

Genuine query:  When people say they expected a "bridge", I assume they want BW to release a DLC which puts ME2 in some 4th time period that is well after the suicide mission and well before ME3.  How would this have been beneficial to any of the previous DLCs or even this one in light of what we know about its plot?

That's the missile launcher. The Avalanche has these blue wires at the top. This one doesn't.

It's the rocket launcher. If you look close, you can see the green part of it that only the ML-77 has.

But enough about rocket launchers, who here is afraid they might run into a major spoiler for this, even if you're avoiding all the places you might hear them?

BW/EA suggested that there would something 'expansive' that would 'bridge' the storyline between 2 and 3.
Of course people are going to expect it, if that's what they're told.

The game has a ton of loose ends that could've been expanded upon as a bridge.  The Geth, The Quarians, The Greybox from the Kasumi DLC which hints that the Alliance may already have known about the Reapers, The Krogans, the subplot about what's her face in Omega, and the whole 'dark energy' mumbo jumbo that's vaguely refered to numerous time in the ME2.

I'm probably missing some but any one of those could be expanded in to an expansion pack by themselves.
This isn't Oscar caliber movie we're talking about but a Space Opera.  It wouldn't be difficult at all to expand yet not give everything away.

For the most part the DLCs were self contained stories that had little to do with Reapers.

BW has proven to be pretty good at coming up elaborate branching storyline ideas, but they suck at following up.
on them.  In game emails  are half assed ways to achieve 'continuity'.

It "expands" upon the Reaper subplot, and it "bridges" into the beginning of ME3 by detailing events that will have happened in ME3 whether you played it or not.  BW/EA cannot reasonably be expected to understand everyone's personal interpretation of their intentionally vague marketspeak.

Not saying it's entirely right, but the time to get vocal about this stuff was a year ago.

Unfortunately, no. I'm sad about this, but I hope it means that Kaidan/Ashley's role in Mass Effect 3 is super awesome"

We know this for sure then?

I guess so :(

If you can trust what IGN says...

Ah no....but ok whatever. :crying:

They only played the first mission out of five... maybe VS will appear later on?

That's what I am thinking.
Also, the question was about rekindling a romance with the VS so in my opinion, that still leaves room for another "appearance" of Kaidan/Ashley.

Either way, we'll all find out Tuesday.

The biggest pro-VS hint is the "after Horizon" requirement. I can't really think of any reason for that requirement other than Ashley/Kaidan being at least somewhat involved, even if it's just in the background.

Where has all this "the VS might be coming back!!!!!!" stuff come from anyway?

So far I've seen nothing that says they will be in it or even a HINT that they'll be in it and at least one flat out denial.

People are making assumptions from nowhere and getting excited about nothing. Bizarre.

People are hyping themselves up and then blames BioWare when their wishes won't come true.

Indeed...while my profile clearly shows my support of Ashley I am not holding my breath for the concept...because honestly this does not seem like a mission where we would randomly run into the VS, nor can I think of any legitamate reason for them to be in this situation. Unless of course they have like a 30 second cameo where there Hackett's escort onto Normandy for security reasons, with them scoweling during entire conversation.

I have to say the Trailer for Shadow Broker is what got me excited for the DLC last time...but I feel no exictement towards this DLC what-so-ever...possibly cuz theres no trailer...which perhaps might be for the best since I won't be disapointed if it's terrible. Just like with DA2 I went in with a "Neutral" mind-set...and by games end thats exactly how I felt about it. Idk what it is but this DLC feels like it's already missing somthing. I can't put my finger on it but it just feels abit off somehow like a near-miss. I truly hope this is unfounded and am proven wrong...but won't know until Tuesday.

Eaither way after the DAO "Two Year" fiasco I wasn't expecting much different from the ME team, esp since ME is their primary cash cow. I don't really care how long this DLC is...as long as the time spent was exciteing immersive and enjoyable thats all that matters. But still I hope Bioware delivers another LotSB quality DLC here.

VS will probably make another Email appearance.

I know this is a very old gripe, but it's kind of silly how we can't respond to any emails. Why not have it like GTA4 had it? You could respond positively (Paragon) or negatively (Renegade) to any email sent to you by other characters. That'd be better than just staring at it...

Actually Alpha Protocal...despite very harsh reviews...got a number of things right...one of which was the Emails. You somtimes had as many as 4 possible ways to respond to an Email, and depending on who the character was that sent it, the options would change. Angry, Flirtatious, Proffesional, Casual, Humorus etc. This was a fantastic Email system imo, somthing that woulda made ME2 ungodly awsome if it had it...because idk about anyone else but my Spacer Shepard wanted to talk to reply to his mom. Btw am I the only one who was abit miffed that mom turned down the Admiral Star? I was like "damnit mom...if Shepard isn't ever going to get a promotion then you should at least!"

Anyway yea...thats the Email system I want from ME3 and the Email system that should have been in ME2. The fact we can never reply to Emails is honestly the ONLY reason I don't like them. I would have no problems if I could. ESP the VS Email! I mean come on Bioware...you don't let the VS scream in our face and then have them send an Email later going "Hey um....sorry bout that I was just really emotional" and then not let us tell them how we feel or anything! I wanted to write Ashley a heartfelt reply about how I forgive her and shes still special to me, instead it looks like Shepard just did that bit where you ignore the person completely and make it look like Shepard don't care anymore...even if he does. I mean I can forgive most other Emails because quite frankly I didn't care about half of them...esp the ones from NPCs like the Detective from Illium....why the hell would she even send me an Email? seriously? I don't give a crap about some random cop who quite frankly is terrible at their job. Aside from the Gliched Conrad Verner...the Emails are my only complaint about the game mechanics. But Mom and Ash's Emails meant alot to Shepard and I really wanted to answer those.

Jeez...ever since I bought Dragon Age: Origins, I haven't even touched Mass Effect 2.

In fact, save for two or three rather brief instances of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, I've been playing DAO exclusively, and this was last November that I bought it.

Hell, I've hardly thought about any other games, other than when pondering why I haven't thought about them.

I think it's about time that I reinstalled ME2.

lol...DAO is certinly entertaining but jeez...no way in hell could I play it THAT often. Now ME1...I could play that game every waking moment the rest of my life and not get bored. I think the 27 consecutive playthroughs when I first bought it...and the overall 45+ playthroughs speak for themselves in that regard. Thats the only game I've never gotten tierd of.

Is it just me or the "solo" DLC sounds like "we don't want to spend money on the voice cast"? Anyway I am defintely gonna buy this DLC, only sad part is that I was expecting Kahlee Sanders to be featured in it. After reading all the books I can't wait to meet her :)

Yes.

Though you'd think if they brought Lance in they'd have brought everyone else in to record some lines for ME3 and Arrival on the side...unless they're already done recording ME3's audio. They couldn't be done with it this soon, could they?

There's also the issue of availability. For example, Yvonne Strahovski (Miranda's VA) was probably doing The 3rd Birthday when this was being made (and hopefully recording some lines for ME3).

As for Kahlee, at this point in time, she is likely still at Grissom Academy, and remember, her dad dies shortly after the Suicide Mission (she and Anderson have a brief reuinion at the funeral). We'll probably have to wait until ME3 for her show up.

The biggest pro-VS hint is the "after Horizon" requirement. I can't really think of any reason for that requirement other than Ashley/Kaidan being at least somewhat involved, even if it's just in the background.

I want to see the VS as much as you do, but this is most likely because of a disk swapping issue. After Horizon (at least on the XBox version) you are prompted to switch to Disk 2.

Not really...they didn't talk in LotSB eaither except for lines that were recycled from the main game. As for the books I think Bioware kinda shot themselves in the foot with Retribution...they created a very unpleasent situation for player canon. That book is a "What Could Have Been" for people who picked Anderson, along with the Inquisition comic. So maybe it's for the best to avoid havinf characters like her appear in the game since she herself is a character thats only half canon anymore.

it might sate my hunger for mass effect 3. But it still is about 9 months before people will be able to count reaper hulls that my shepard kills on his way to save earth and the rest of galaxy.

How great it is to play on a pc, to be able to enjoy the game without a disc swap, to be able to take Tali to recruit Archangel and to take Thane to recruit Jack.
