Hi
I have destroyed all five tomes (albeit the first one i actually used the read option, didnt make a deal with the tome, then because the option to destroy it wasnt there destroyed it via my inventory ... am thinking i may have screwed up there!) and the quest has not updated.
Any advice?

You have to destroy all five. If you read/take any of them (even if you dump it from your inventory later) you can't finish the quest.

People are saying you can read the last one without messing up the quest. Haven't come that far on my second playthrough though.

I think reading one of them gives you 2 skill points (but only once).
Mind you, destroying all 5 and reading the last one gives you 2 skill points too. Plus something else, but I won't say what.

Using normal means to finish the quest becomes impossible if you do not destroy all the tomes on sight. The only other thing you can do is , continue destroying the other 4 tomes and then edit the savegame to teleport to the last area (carefully, as it can break your save), which will allow you to complete it.

Damn, I took the first two. Is this something worth going back to an earlier save for?

Damn, I took the first two. Is this something worth going back to an earlier save for?
A pretty decent Blood Mage staff and perhaps one of the most difficult fights in the game.
