Hello so I was wondering what is the absolut best staff for mages?

so far I found Fal'din to be the best, is there others staff that do similar damage?

cuz if fal'din it's the only one legendary staff, seems kinda lacking.... since all other weapons classes have 2-3 legendary weapons to choose from.

For act 1, Staff of Parlathan (the DLC staff) is the best. According to the guide, the best staff stat wise is the one sold in the black emporium, and it's only available in the 3rd act for around 150 sovereigns.

I used the Staff of Parlathan from act 1 to end... And it seemed to just increase in damage as I leveled up, so I never needed to replace it(I did test runs with it, and I still did more damge with Parlathan than any other staff)

The Final Thought. You can buy it in the Black Emporium during act 3 for about 150 sovereigns. It does physical damage, is instahit and has rune slots, among other things.

Because it is physical damage it does poor damage. better use the coin on the robes or ring

isn't damage still damage? Regardless if it says physical, lightning, spirit, fire or cold, does it not still add that damage to each spell or am I reading how this works wrong? To the person that says Parlathon is still best throughout the game what kind of "tests" did you run to compare damage and how was your mage specced?

With enough +physical damage gear, +attack speed, and a Death Hex user, you'll be out DPSing a 2-handed warrior with just autoattacks during act 3.

Depends on ur mage. For me the Torch of Falon'Din was the best staff, auto attack wise. I had a total of 90% bonus to fire, with the +attack speed rune and the 10% bonus to all damage ruin in it. Thing was pretty lethal.

Plus its one of the cooler looking staffs in the game.

This. Exactly this, down to the runes I specced it with. I'm one of those crazy people who goes by the look of my equipment over raw stats (I still want the items to be useful, I just want them to be badass, too). The Final Thought was kind of weak looking, whereas the Torch has that awesome blade at the end...

This may be the first time we disagree on something, highcastle

Or maybe it's just because "The Final Thought" reminded me so much of my Warden's staff, Spellfury.

Since the introduction of elemental staves, I figured there woultn'd be a single answer. Okay, I LOATHE physical attack stave, because to maximize your damage you got to be RIGHT THERE. I always specialize in Cold/Lightning damage, what's the best staff for one of those?

Granted this is coming a yr after the last post was made but in my opinion the best staff is The Hawke's Key. not only do u get to add 3 effects to the 2 it comes with but it also increases in strength as u level up as well..

Best one for auto-attacking is the torch of falon din. Best for casting would be the final thought until malcolm's honor/freedom's promise overtakes them. Of course for a level 50 game, malcolm's honor (for blood mages or who want to focus on crit dmg) or freedom's promise are the best for casting. Torch of falon din retains the title of best auto-attacking staff. The bonuses of malcolm's honor and freedom's promise are better than the bonuses provided by hawke's key.
