Does it matter at all if you come up with the 50 gold yourself versus taking Dougal's deal in the Friends in Low Places quest? Just not sure if I should be hoarding all my gold or buying stuff cause I'm a bit short.

Basically I just did all the quests and in the end I had 19 gold remaining, that was without taking Dougal's Deal.

You can safely take the deal. He will show up later and demand to get his money back, but that's nothing you can't solve without a bit of violence.

Hoard it all, make him pay your way. Then kill him in next act. Profit!

Nope Zeil, if you accept Dougal's money then you don't get expedition gold. I didn't take his money and Sandal's dad showed up at the beginning to Act 2 and gave me 50 gold. That doesn't happen if you do Dougal.

That just corresponds to the 50 gold you paid to get started. So the total will be the same. Short version: doesn't matter if you pick one or the other it seems.

Didn't feel the need. Before going into the Deep Roads I had 89 Sovereigns I think.
