They are fine romances. Isabela rocks. In fact, I'd say the most annoying thing about the romances is that they are SHORT and I really don't know a whole lot about Isabela, still, after like 8 years, makes absolutely no sense.

I disagree. I liked the options and found both of them to be interesting and likable characters. Merrill is naive about some things but rather smart and insightful about others, which I thought was reasonably reflective of her experience in the world. Listen to some of the banters where she talks about the chantry, for example. She didn't strike me as cute. She struck me as naive but intelligent with an interesting way of viewing the world.

As for Isabela, being promiscuous does not make a woman a bad person, a ****, or one dimensional. Not being able to see beyond a woman's promiscuity, however, (especially when you are literally being told everything about said woman beyond it) reflects poorly on your perception, at best.

Might just be me but I think that the female LI:s are more fun in DA2 =) I have only tried the Merrill romance so far, saving the rivalry one for later and the last Hawke was the first that managed to keep Isabella and both of them are really fun to be around. Might just be me but I rather romance Merrill and Isabella because they click better with me. Still remember leaving poor Morrigan in camp most of the time because she disapproved of my little goody-goody warden   =)   poor girl

You see thats where Bioware went wrong this time around, the romance subplot with Isabella was not what most people expect from a romantic liason in a game. She was very much too real, she made many men think of one night stands they would rather forget or random girls they picked up in nightclubs. For me personally i prefer it to be bigger than life, it is escapism after all.

Seems to me that's an issue with men who pick up random women and then can't cope with the fact that they are actually PEOPLE, rather than an issue with Bioware's characterisation...

And to those ragging on Isabela, get over it. She likes to get laid. NEWSFLASH! sex is fun. Why is it any guy who sleeps around is a hero and any girl that does becomes pariah. Double standard 4tw.

Also, THIS. +10. Women like sex. I know, I know - it comes as a surprise to many. But true nonetheless.

QFT. If Isabela were a man, a lot would high five him.

Isabela has a textbook case of daddy issues; it takes literally no effort to write a character like her. Merril is a "raise your own teenager" simulator, complete with moodiness and bouts of suicidal behavior. Way to phone it in, Bioware.

I picked a single romance option in a conversation with Isabella and slept with her immediately after. I remember having to work quite a bit harder than that in every other Bioware game to even get to that point. Actually the most interesting part of the whole thing was the conversation after.

You may not get her to stay in your house but you can always go to her.... ship.

Funny isn't it - the disdain they hold for the woman that they'd have the one night stand with - but hold no disdain what-so-ever for themselevs?

Oh boys boys boys.  That is one of the advantages of getting older however - some of those boys do, eventually grow into men.  Image IPB

A metaphor involving tadpoles growing into frogs occurs to me, but I'm having trouble fitting in the bit where my dog eats some of the tadpoles, and the bit where my neighbour's children try to eat some of the tadpoles, and...yeah, it went to a weird place.

To summarise: yes.

Indeed. And I've always rather liked frogs. So I think it all works out for the best in the end. ^_^

I do agree with Merrill being a terrible romance option but it is all matter of opinion I just wish they had a third choice to make it that you can have have a pick or mix its one extreme or another extreme for DA2

While I don't feel "screwed over" I definitely do not find the ugly elves attractive at all, and I don't like ****ty ****s for LTRs.

A lot of Bud Lite drinking sideways baseball hat bro dawg d-bags maybe.

Despite what you read on blogs and what you see at republican political conventions, other men do NOT worship bro dawg dudes who cheat on their girls or nail ****s.

I've never once high fived any d00d about any sexual encounter he had.  In college brahs tried to high five me, and I left them hanging.

What I do with women is for me and the women I do it with.  I'm not some strip club goin loser that gets off on other d00ds getting off.  I find that just sad and pathetic.

I think it also says something about the frat boi d-bags that run around high fiving each other after banging the same drunk ****.  They're tards

One of the great epiphany moments of my teenage years. Prior to that I just thought they tolerated it so they could get stuff.

I always find it so charming when young men feel that denouncing a man for engaging in activities they know women find distasteful makes them superior and mature.  As you get older you start to realize there is no shame in being a man and liking to look at/have sex with naked women.  Sex, and the desire for sex, are natural.

It is difficult for women to shrug off that "easy" repuation when they are open about their sexual desires - even among men who should know better.  It is a territorial thing, I believe.  Men like to feel that a woman they are sleeping with belongs to them alone; the act of sex marking their territory.

That's a nice opinion, but that doesn't have anything to do with what I posted, why did you quote me?
