And I agree with JeanLuc761. Isabela's romance is really touching. Her issues with loves, her coming back for Hawke during the Qunari invasion and the subsequent duel, etc.

i hope so i would love to see isa  stay at the house, but the fuinny thing the bug says i left with isabela theyw as maxed and i slpt with merril but if you go to the hanged man and talk she tells you she heard youw as with meril and syou of course lie and she says she will cut you balls off if you go with anyone else which i found foundy about that part i pictured siabela coming in while i was with meril near the end of are "duel"

My only irritation with merrill is that you cannot change her blood magic course, or opinions about it. I suppose its makes sense that she could resist her lover, after she refused to listen to her entire clan.

Isabela changes and develops beyond her **** theme when you romance her.


I only feel sorry for the straight girl options - anders and fenris. Both incredibly dark and unhappy characters. I was trying to romance fenris with my female mage, but his rage was incredibly unappealing.

Even if Sheryl didn't write this underlying thing with Isabela, I find it pretty obvious: Her rampant sexual behavior and not making it seem like she can commit for a second is a projection of the fact that she is scared to be truly loved. The chapter 3 conversation where the relationship becomes real makes it plainly obvious. If you void any emotional attachment to a person you're protecting yourself from being hurt.

Yes she's out to have as much fun as she can but if you can actually analyze the things she says even post one night stand with Hawke (with the investigate options taken), a lot of the bravado is there almost as a defense mechanism. Her and Fenris are rather opposite. Fenris broods and is guarded to protect himself, and Isabela outwardly projects her escapades.

Good breakdown. If there's anything wrong with it,  it is a short romance because as you said it doesn't really kick in until act 3. Hawke and Isabela are like friends with benefits for about 6 years and then things get real (at least on her part) and that type of relationship suits my Hawke.

Personally I felt that the romances were too easy to achieve in DA 2 making them feel very hollow and shallow. All I had to do was click the heart option a couple times and it would play out for me. It barely even mattered what had happened until this point. This ruined the sense of relationship development or discovery in the romance. In Dragon Age Origins you had to deliberately talk to your romance target a few times, find the right gifts for them, and only when the relationship meter was high enough could you start to flirt with them and romance them. This seemed a lot more rewarding and made the romance feel like a bit of an ingame achievement.

I can imagine, even as a friend to my male Hawke, he was being an unthankful douche all the time (especially in the endgame ).

Only when Moma Hawke died, he said something nice : I took him in my party like he's my nextdoor neighbour and he comes to check on me and I was surprised to find out that he actually expresses condolences when you right-click him instead of his usual "we should move on". But yeah, the rest of the time, the rage was irritating. Which I'm sure is the point. I think Gaider likes giving us characters that we love to hate .

Isabella's romance wasn't bad actually. She's trampy at the beginning, but in Act 3 she changes drastically. Haven't tried the Merrill romance yet, but from the video I've seen I don't think I'll want to any time soon. Just look at the romance scene at hawkes house, and watch the full video. She makes such an awkwardly random confession there.... I replay that over and over again just for kicks. It's hilarious.

You seriously haven't noticed it was supposed to be a joke?
As for Kaiden, you are wrong. Carth was created before the ME(2007) series in KOTOR(2003). Just sayin'

The more annoying thing is that the game takes over x years but the love intrest don't seem to mature well in the slights to me or is effected in a positive or negative way in how you play... My Hawke has higher standards in woman that atleast arent one dimensional in a extreme. I wish they give a person that feels independent, non-whorish, respectful, has a slight humorous personality, and can have a open view on topics (does not get irrational fast on topic she/he does not agree with).

So far, my female hawke slept with both Isabella and Merril. Havent finished the game yet or gotten to the end point of the romances, but I slept with Merril while romancing Isabella and Isabella is fine with it, even though Merril lives in my house. Then again, my hawke has tried to romance just about everyone, though I never really got fenris or anders completely on the hook. As for sebastian, meh.. havent bothered using him other than for his storyline missions.
