Per the subject, in DAO you had some quests that locked a party member in your group automatically, are there any of that nature in DA2?

Sorry if it's been asked already but couldn't find it.

Yes. Companions have specific companion quests that you have to take them along for.

The Deep Roads expedition in act 1 locks Varric in your party.
