Why create a playable character that you can only use for 1/3 of the game? I hope a MOD comes out so I can play with Bethany the entire game because not only do I like her personality, I want to use her healing spell concurrent with Ander's, and I think it's poor story telling to suddenly force you to not be able to play that character. It really ticked me off

I agree. Whether Beth or Carver, forcing your sibling out of the party at the end of Act 1 is simply too early. And then they leave the character in the party picker screen greyed out basically saying "Haha! Got your ass! You thought you'd be able to play the whole game with your sister. What a fool you were." The entire Hawke family as a whole got the shaft in this game.

I agree, she should get a much bigger part in the story.

But like I said before, why not introducing her in the next DA? So you can hook up with her as.... whoever you'll be playing. Much more satisfactory! :P

Except both her and Carver can die... which severely drops their chances of showing up again in anything more than a cameo unfortunatly. I would definatly love to see something like that but I won't hold my breath on it actually happening.

I am well aware of the possibility of them dying, but since I have seen DA2 Leliana and Anders ressurected back from death I say nothing from Bioware can surprise me now. Ever.

You make a good point.

i`d like to see Bethany / Carver as a Gray Warden. it starts at the end of the deep roads and ends during the qunari assault. i mean there are a few years between these events, that should be enough to tell a nice story (its not all about slaying darkspawn to be a gray warden).

I wanted more of both as well, but I did use Bethany more than Carver. It was probably a budget or time reason. Maybe they originally intended to have both of them as part of the game for the whole thing, but didn't have the resources to devote to mapping out their story arcs for the next two acts and recording all the dialogue when you'd only have one or the other.

More likely, it was the "OH FFfffffffffffffff!" aspect that BW is known for. I, personally, love that that Bethany/Carver was taken from us. Just because they introduce a character as a party member, doesn't mean they have to stay one.

It got us talking, didn't it?

But they die by the murder knife, that's not something you can easily go back on.
However, there are 3 possible outcomes and only one results in death, they may still do something with them in the futire, you never know...

just take anders into the deep roads and youll get a grey warden sibling if you take them too.

or take them, and not anders and they die.

or done take them and they join the templars or circle.

theres a chance you can have them back at the end of the game, i had carver and my mage fighting side by side against orsino and meredith.
