I think they could have expanded on this quest a bit and given it more impact in the whole of the storyline. I mean DA2's storyline is a bit weak as it is.

They could have gave you option of offering her a place to live , I mean she afterall , one of 2 family members not pushing up daisies. Even though Gamlen is a complete waste of space, he is still family.

I was so hoping she would have had more to do in the story.

Damn straight. I wish she'd been a companion too. Whenever somebody cool showed up, I thought, "Oh, so this is the secret companion..." but nothing ever came of it. I didn't even see her once after that quest was concluded.

After doing that quest my first thought was that she might be a bigger character in future DA game. She just seemed strangely competent you know, by locating the gem and helping to fight against the mercs.

They could of expanded on everything involving Hawke's family. So much wasted potential.

I got that vibe as well. She's a proficient archer it seems, heady, related to Hawke, looks good (not that that matters just pointing it out), and hasn't been fleshed out as a character hardly at all. I could see a Isabela or Merrill scenario where she comes back in a expansion or DA3 as a companion.

I actually like the general storyline and all the companions. I just hate how Hawke's family is basically swept underneath the rug by the end of the first act.

Including her in a future title would make sense... I hope they do it. Maybe. Not if they just kill her off to make us feel bad, of course.

How did I miss this? When did she pop up?

After you talk to Gamlen at his house during Act 3 there is a note laying on a table near him that will start the quest she's involved in. I missed it entirely on my first play through as well.

Act 2 or 3 cant remember, but visit Gamlen often, he will have a note on his desk and read it, then talk to him.

Huh, I missed that on 2 playthroughs. Didn't feel like talking to that old whiner.

I would've just been happy if they had implemented the paragon/renegade actions like in me2.

I would've liked to beat uncle gamlen for screwing mother over.

Start of Act 3. Gamlens Treasure. I think it starts with a note at my mansion or his hobo shack that mentions a jewel of some sort. That's how it starts.

Indeed. It was a nice try, but it seems the "must have the family killed off," trope pulled through the end. >.>

I felt bad for Gamlen.
His sister was the family favorite and when she left for Ferelden Gamlen was the one who stayed and took care of their parents. In the end they left Leiandra everything while he only got a stipend.Gamlen wasn't anywhere close to being the nicest or smartest character in the game, but I thought he was totally justified in seizing control of the family estate. As far as Gamlen knew her family would have stayed in Ferelden for the rest of his life.

Exactly. I was really looking forward to having a family that actually made it all the way through the game with me, but they couldn't help themselves from offing them. I think Bioware gets off on killing family members.

I do sympathize with gamlen but at the same time what he did was dirty and underhanded.

The proper way to have handled that would've been to write her and tell her their parents had died and enclose what they put in the will and give HER the decision whether she wanted to turn over the estate to him (which she probably would've seeing as her husband was still alive).

The iceing on cake was when he lied and told his sister her parents died hating her.

Weasels like that need a good beating to be set on the straight and narrow.

But Gamlen is an absolute idiot, and I can't stand him, and don't want to go visit him.

I thought that learning that Gamlen had a sister, and that my PC had a cousin was a nice touch. It would be nice if that gets expanded on in a later installment.

All this Gamlen hate. I mean, he's a horrible person at the start, but I ended up really liking him in the end in a "feels bad for him and his life wasn't easy" kinda way. I hope things work out for him as a father.

i prefer it to DA:O's generic snoozefest personally.

"DRAGON BAD! DURRR WE KILL DRAGON SAVE DA WORLD DURRR!"
