How exactly does Flemeth tie into the story?

Maybe I missed a side quest or something, but as far as I know, Flemeth shows up at the beginning to save the hero, then showed up again outside Kirkwall to basically say "Sup?"...

Will her role in the whole story be revealed in the next game or what? And what about Morrigan? Does she show up in DA2? I kept hoping that she'd show up because of the Eluvian Merrile is working on, but no such luck...

Would it make any difference if I imported a character who didn't go through the Witch Hunt DLC (or go through the mirror with Morrigan)?

Is it fate or chance, I can never decide.

Flemeths just there to spout riddles and keep you guessing at her and morrigans intent.

Yeah by the end of the game you don't even remember Flemeth was part of the game. Why it wasn't acknowledged at all is beyond me.

You can only assume that she was trying to get the warden and the champion together. She obviously knew the war was coming, as did Morrigan. The story of those 2 characters wasn't expanded at all in this game. Hawke was simply a giant sub-plot to the main story.

BioWare is good at doing that in their sequels.

Seems like something to be followed up on in DA3 or DLC

I like how I didn't kill Flemeth in my DAO playthrough and yet I still had to "save" her with Hawke.

And yeah, she was there to say inane things.

Lol I was going to do another playthrough and not kill her just to see if she'd still appear there xD

Thx

Her role in DA2 was rather minuet (in game time rather than consequence), she’s like an old-school Dungeon Master of Thedas.

Yeah, my main playthrough was a pure good mage, all Makery and stuff, and killing an old woman seemed like a bad desicion so I lied to Morrigan instead. Maybe Flemeth trips and falls into a well if you don't kill her yourself, so she knew she was doomed.

ive been wondering about Flemeth as well... Needless to say I have been playing Bioware games for a long long long time them and Squaresoft/ Enix. ..... I noticed they follow the same formula though starting with Jade Empire yrs ago. My guess is that Flemeth is actually going to be a major player in the end of it all turning out to actually be Andraste spirit and the maker sent to Cull some larger threat and unite the ppl of the world. Not saying that will happen word for word but am pretty confident after looking back at the last 10 yrs of Bioware stories and games. Characters change but basic plot and good or evil theme are always there.:bandit:

I see her as a binding character, she will probably show up in 3 to get our hero on the right path. As a plot device I like Flemeth, her insane ramblings and me picturing Captian Janeway saying it make for one heck of a giggle at times.

I hope she doesn't show up again to deliver some kind of Prophecy about the CHOSEN ONE. Even though it's leaning more and more frighteningly in that direction, what with her "the world stands on the precipice of change" speech. But I still cling to hope, because I hate the "Prophecy" plot device.

If in DA3 the main character kills and Ogre and within 3 minutes is whisked away and rescued by Flemeth, it officially becomes a trope.

She's writing the story.

Also, if you don't kill Flemeth I assumed based on her "why must I only be in one place?" line that there were 2 Flemeths walking around. By extrapolation I assume that there are more walking around since something like that had to have happened before in her impressive lifespan.

This is why DA3 is going to be you, as Flemeth, combining forces with Asha'bellenar, the Witch of the Wilds, and an old lady who talks too much to end the mage-templar wars and bring/stop the magic from coming back and splitting the sky.

Pretty much, this.

The whole point is bringing her back to life.

Yeah, I know a lot of people didn't kill her, but a lot of people also killed Leliana, and how'd that work out?

Bioware will poop on your story whenever they please. All the while claiming 'there is no canon.' and 'your decisions matter'.

Sad but true.

Yep, this.

Also to provide quote fodder for forumites to latch on to and create arbitray memes out of, or to otherwise affectionately (?) mock; to use a Planescape Torment example, "What can change the nature of a man? Change can. You better change, man."

I'm sure we'll see her again in a DLC or expansion. There were scenes with her in the Destiny trailer that weren't in the game.

And I doubt Bioware got Kate Mulgrew back just to do half of the lines she did in Origins... They're holding something back for later. Another "Witch Hunt" probably.

Actually yeah, there is some more Flemeth stuff in the game files. [dialogue it seems]

There's also a crapload of other stuff. Small example:, the Vigilance sword from Awakening is there, along with an accompanying codex entry.

In other words, DLC on your game CD/hard drive just waiting for you to pay to 'activate' it. Yowch.

Or some intrepid modder to come along and crack it all wide open. One can dream, I suppose.

Actually it'd be pretty bad ass if DA3 had the lead be one of Flemeth's Daughters, maybe from the wilds in Orlais or Antiva, opening with them killing Flemeth. Ooh I got chills.

No idea what Flemeth is on about, but it's nice to have a character with motives you're not aware of.

Flemeth knows everything... but says nothing.

Kinda like a magic 8 ball.

Flemeth is plain awesome. She makes me laugh, she's got this air of mystery about her. As for how she ties into the story. Well she's an age old malifecarum if stories are to be believed. She's been around a long time and probably will be around for times to come. Enjoy her.
