Dragon Age II is WAAAAAY too dark visually - to the point where I can't see anything in a dark area. Part of this is due to my monitor being older, but most games allow the gamma/brightness levels to be significantly increased - DA2 only allows them to be slightly increased. Please alter the settings so that gamma/brightness can be significantly increased (Civ 5, WoW, and most other games look just fine on my system when I can increase brightness).

You can alter a line in the config file to set the gamma higher, though annoyingly unlike the demo it doesn't seem to save properly. Whenever I load the game the gamma is dark again and I have to tweak the slider, it still states that it is at 1.50 but is clearly not and I have to jiggle it a notch one way then back to get it how I want it, worked perfectly in the demo...

The file you want is in documents/bioware/dragon age 2/settings.

In the file called DragonAge set the gamma to 1.5 or higher depending on how you want it.

I just wish it saved properly...demo kept the setting without any fiddling.

That's how I fixed it too. To clarify, it's the DragonAge.ini file. And yes the game doesn't save the gamma setting, so I have to click on the bar every time I start it. It's really annoying. I started up DAO to upload a portrait and noticed that the gamma settings in that were WAAAY better and much brighter. What's the deal with everything being so broken this time around?
