What the title says, Ive lost 2 playthroughs to various glitches and would be very grateful if you could give me your estimate for its release?

It's been one week and three days. I've played through three times, and while the bugs are very annoying, there are work arounds until the few particular ones you're experencing are patched.

Don't expect an answer, they are still accumulating the data. Two weeks maybe.

I can tell you, and the devs as well, the Xbox patch will be on a Tuesday.

Why is that?

Edit: Why on a tuesday?

>_< It takes a lot longer than a few days to get a patch out for download.

Lets say they started on making a patch for release day.
  • They need to identify the bugs that are going to be fixed in this patch
  • Attempt to fix said bugs.
  • Test those fixes.
  • If some or all fixes fail those test, more fixing
  • Repeat step 3 and 4 until issues resolved
  • Submit patch data to Microsoft for approval
  • Microsoft does some magical things to approve the patch and make it ready for mass download
  • Patch is uploaded to servers
  • Done.
This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a few months depending on the size of the patch and the amount of bug fixes. I'd suggest waiting until at least the end of the month until you start asking when you will see a patch released. I for one am not expecting anything until then, and wouldn't be surprised if I don't see anything until the middle of April.

That is completely unreasonable. They just released a game that has various game ruining bugs, and they are not going to have it fixed until April.

Even if Bioware made a patch ready for all platforms today, we would still wait week(s) for Microsoft to approve.

The bugs that's been addressed here in the forums by the devs won't probably hit a patch until April. But my instincts says that the broken achievements and auto-attack will hit end of this month because it's probably done by now. But again, just my instincts and gut feeling.

To be fair, the amount of time it takes to release a patch is, to some extent, not under their control.  They can't make Microsoft approve their patch faster.

Because extensive testing for bugs is not profitable, I'd imagine.  Bugs tend to hit people and affect their experience/perception of the game only after they've played it and encountered said bugs.  In other words, only after they've, you know, already bought the game and sent their money off to Bioware/EA.

When I look at this long list of bug reports, playing this game is starting to sound like treading on a minefield. Sigh.

From what I can see, it's not any worse than DA:O was. Better, if anything, because all of these bugs have work-arounds or can be avoided by just looking here on the forums and reading about them before you play, as opposed to DA:O where there was no way to get around the Dex bug if you were trying to use knives as your char's weapon, no way to make stealing work, etc.

It'd be nice to get some kind of estimate on how long it could take from a Bioware employee and not just some yahoo on the internet.

It's much less profitable for Bioware to damage its reputation and ****** off its fans by releasing a product that is unplayable or will become unplayable because of bugs and glitches. It makes much more sense profit wise to release a not buggy game. My guess is that Bioware had to have the game ready to ship before they had sufficient time for playtesting and polishing.

Edit: Hmm. . . sry i messed up the second paragraphs quote on my post

They're currently testing the first patch on the PCs.
