Is it worth puttting enough points into the specialization tree to get the passive that gives you a bonus from all three?

NO!
The sustainable skills do work but putting more than 1 point into the one you want is a waste. The end talent in there for all 3 of them is terrible considering how many points you are wasting to get it.

Short answer, no.
Long answer, depends. Early game, Precision or Speed are pretty damn good for single point investments. Towards the end of the game (circa level 19+ or so), you start to run out of DPS talents. At this point, you can invest the other 3-5 points into the tree to maximize a sustained you're already using or get utility talents. I personally fully upgraded Speed at the end of the game and I don't regret it.

Okay, thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll just put one point in the one I want and then at the end if I have extra talents ill go from there.
