Keeping Friendship/Rivalry system but evolve it further and give me something beyond just a +5/-10 system with a name and a color.
- Small gains or reductions can stay largely as is. Large gains in either direction (+10/-10) should trigger some reaction in some cases, either banter dialog or a full on conversation with the party member. Maybe even the +5/-5 get the quick one liners to the effect of "You're better that that Hawke", "Well played Hawke", "Do you also enjoy kicking puppies for fun?"...something.
- A lot of comments here are people felt they wanted more interaction up front to get a better feel for their party members. I think tying in their reactions into their views and why there was a change +/- would provide a better and deeper understanding of what makes them tick and provide some of that depth.
- This could help the system feel less gamey and provide better feedback as to why we get the results we do. Some party members feel schizophrenic in their reactions at times (Ander's gets a pass here lol

-Being able to talk to our companions more often, and having them be a deeper conversation
-More spells
-Same characterization as Hawke. Not same character, but still have the ability to shape our character.
-Have a story that...moves me.
-NO cliffhanger.
-Completely agree with the crafting system.
-Have the game be on a giant scale, as in traveling from place to place rather than staying in one city/country.
-Isabela. Cause I like her.
-Morrigan (not as a companion though)
-Tiny quests that get's us a reward (i.e. Topsider's Honor)
-Voiced Protagonist
-Cassandra
-Having our decisions from DA2 actually matter. (Dead character STAYS dead)
-Flemeth

DAO bits I would use:
World exploration or at least continent not one city and a few trips to one map on a mountain and beach. For example a combination of every city within the game was scale and size of Kirkwall but was many cities in the continent that would be bliss from a gaming perspective and with Bluray this isn't out of the question (if time wasn't a factor coming from EA), I'd rather wait 5-6 years for that and fill the time with DLC than short games without imho.
Customisation brought back, if some people don't like that then at most an option it from settings, either an manual equip gear yourself option or an off option in which they are given default gears maybe a choice of 3-5 sets. But companion custimisation not just runes trinkets and weapons which there is no excuse not to have given the same gear sort of drops were in DA2 only you were blocked from using them as the only difference between DAO and DA2.
Grand scale plot and storyline like in DAO as opposed to what felt like some of the time as a soap opera in DA2.
No horrible "years go by" clichés like in DA2, even though playtime was around same as DAO it felt cheapened by this for me.
An ending that felt like an ending with room to follow up with DLC, not like a "to be concluded... heres a free kick in the balls for your troubles" approach.
Choices of character race is a deffinate.
ALL item loot regardless of junk or not needs descriptions whether funny or realistic which was removed or just plain too lazy to put in in DA2.
DA2 bits I would use:
Combat mechanics, but would be nice to have option of auto attack in settings if so wished to use it.
Graphics both in general scenery and models such as CC.
Voiced conversations is ideal from the main characters which isn't an issue over time, space or money as all NPCs in DAO you interacted with for quests were voiced so adding a few more voices to a main character is a small thing.
The conversation wheel was fine I have no problem using this method.
Actually having a family and also a home was nice touch.
Importing from the choices in (BOTH) DAO and DA2, not just DA2 or none.
Release a product that works from start at POS not making the players beta testers and releasing patches later.
DO NOT re-use areas!

-No more exploding bodies (unless a spell/talent warrants it).
-Auto Attack anyone?
-Stop having people spray buckets of blood. Origins was good. It spattered, it didn't geyser.
-Revert the Elves and Darkspawn. Neither looked even remotely better than the original.
-Be sensible about Qunari horns. I traveled with one for a year and he had no horns. I got no problem with them, per say, but it shouldn't be on every single Qunari from here to kingdom come.
-More tactical combat. DA2 felt more like God of War than an RPG. This is not a good thing.
-A story/plot that isn't tied together with bailing wire. DA2 dropped this ball off the empire state building. The acts were good, but nothing tied together. I felt like I was playing DLC back to back.
-Hawke NOT the main character. He's/She's lost his/her right to the car keys. He's/She's a blatant symbol of a bad experience and should not be the main character again.
-More interactive party. The same volume of dialog was written for 2 as for Origins, but most of 2's dialog was for injections into conversations and you'd never hear it all. So I never really got to know most of the companions and honestly I only cared about Bethany. The rest could die in the war and (as the player) couldn't even must amusement at the idea.
-Shale. Yeah, I know. DLC character not everyone saw, but come on. Probably one of the single most enjoyable characters Bioware has ever made (ranking with HK-47) and I'd like to know if Shale ever turned back into Shayle or if she's still a rock-monster.
-Less Linear Shoving. DA2 suffered heavily from being forced into one very tight path with little wiggle room on how you got there. Origins had a wide open field between you and the goal and you could tear the place to pieces to get there. To quote another popular game: Origins Wins. FATALITY.
-Don't recycle. ME2 took up 2 discs, and if you need the time and room to make DA3 do that then by all means: Have at it. But the terrible amount of same-old further decreased replay value. Which makes the difference between renting a game and buying it.
-Improve the dialog wheel (if you keep it). Shepherd had good choices and had engaging conversations. Hawke talked a whole lotta nonsense and when asked to give a "choice" he could say yes nicely, sarcastically, or rudely. Yet he always said yes. He was like the toady of Kirkwall. And he was so dis-interesting I could even slam him as a companion, nevermind him being the main character.
-Character Customization. Origins, races, backgrounds, classes, even a better array of options for the face. The only face that looked engaging in DA2 was Hawke's preset, but it suffered in the male model because his bear looked like a drunken quaker.
-Less Console Coddling. I loved Origins on the X-Box as it was (with the exception of shuffle-stepping to line up attacks). Trust me when I say this made it's way into my top games of all time without being coddled because it wasn't on a computer. It only got better on the computer, but I still loved it on X-Box. So stop coddling console gamers. Some games just are better on PC. We live with that.
-Will add more if I think of it...

2) Bring back Merrill.
3) Keep the same fast paced combat.
4) Gives us more Merril.l
5) Let us talk with the companions more. Like in Origins or even Mass Effecr (1,2) to find out some more general stuff about them and their culture, race and themselves etc.
6) Even more Merrill.
7) Do not recycle areas. Not only we were stuck in Kirkwall which was mostly looking the same (It was beautiful though so well done on designing it) we also get all the dungeons copy and pasted.
8) Do some proper QA before releasing your product.
EDIT:
9) No more exploding bodies ... bring back finishers.

I want a crazy hybrid of DA2 and DAO. I want DAO Mabaris but DA2 combat animations (with DAO Messy Kills). I'm shocked at how many people basically just want DAO, if that's what you want there is a wonderful community of people who make mods and full on expansions to DAO, you should look into those.

2. Champion cameo. I don't know how hard that'd be to do, importing maybe the same face or translating it, but it'd be super awesome.
3. Next generation. I want to see some companion's kid. Someone's grandchild. It'd be neat to see all the companions in DAO aged and even the ones in DA2 (they're all around the same age anyways). It'll give more realism. I really enjoy character growth and believe that the Dragon Age events are way too big to seclude in one generation. Maybe DA3 = 20-30 years after, people are too old to fight, pass the baton to next group.
4. Haste. I'm addicted. Yes.
5. Griffons. I want them. Or animal mounts. A halla. Some way to travel other than walk. Maybe a Flamie. Haha Flemeth can be a Flamie.

2.No reused maps
3.More DA:O charictars! (they were way better then the DA2 charictars in my opinion)

- Bosses that don't have 10 phases and a gazillion health.
- For the love of god please let us change our companions weapons + accessories from our home.
- No "dominant personality" and more choice over what Hawke says.
- Important non-combat "followers" like Kelly Chambers from ME2 with more attention given to them.
- An ending that doesn't seem rushed.

A return to the character models of DA:O for Elves and Qunari.
If you're going to have "love scenes", at least have them in their underwear, if not naked (you don't have to "show the good china", but at least let us know that they aren't trying to have sex while fully dressed).
Let us choose which race to play, and have at least as much customization as before.
Keep the resource gathering system of DA II.
Give us the ability to customize (or remove if we choose) Companion's armor, just as we do our own in DA:O and DA II.
Keep the ability to summon the mabari without him taking up a party member slot.
Give us more of those slo-mo cinematic killshot finishes on fights.
That's it for now. :-)

- Exploration
- If party-based, my companions should wear what I think fits their class and role.
- Not so linear

-Weapons ala Varric, where you choose a certain style and look that lvls with you. Add runes, spells or some such to offer a more customized but still distinctively 'your' weapon as you progress through the game. The same for your Companions, much like Asala was for Sten, I always felt it seemed 'wrong' somehow for him not to have it after you'd recovered it.
For example Hawke's sword, in the next Age would be a weapon of legend unto itself.
- Change the damn Elves back, the DA2 style is just repulsive.
- Combat should revert to a more tactical style, or be more thoroughly implemented with a stronger AI for your companions.
