DragonAge.ini has a setting labeled EnableShadows, but when I set it to 0, I still get shadows.

Does anyone know if this is possible?  Is there something else I should do to get this setting to "stick"?  Or another means of effecting it?

it seems like the default minimum for shadows in dragon age 2 is a nice classic black circle under your toons. that's with all settings minimum, i.e. DX9, lowest setting. try fooling around with the menu settings to all minimum first before tweaking the .ini. if it really still keeps the 0 setting to be with that nice classic black circle then i'm afraid you'll have to look at the modding forums for help to remove shadows completely then.

Hey, thanks for the response, but with the setting at 0, nothing changes -- that is, I have full shadows, both soft-edged and in complete stencil form. The thing is, with games like this, I can usually pump everything to max IF I disable shadows, which do nothing for me (esp given the fps difference of about 50 vs 20!).

I doubt this is even moddable, since it's likely in the game engine.

My guess is that DX11 mode is going to force me into some other graphic options. I know that DX10 and 11 have awesome shadows capabilities, but I just want em for the lighting and textures!

On a similar note, setting DisableMRT (frame buffer effects) to 1 does nothing for me either. I'm betting that DX11 overrides those :(

I don't think you can completely disable shadows. In fact, that's completely non-sense.

well. it'll be moddable as in a mod to completely disable shadows. but im guessing you're about right there, it could be a dx10/11 hard feature, if not it's most likely that the null value for shadows was set to be for shadow draw distance. i'm not too sure, im still terribly stuck on XP SP3, so im pretty much fixed with dx9 till i get the cash to overhaul my system to 7. maybe someone else running dx11 who's tweaking with the .ini files can confirm it.
