Crap. I will never side with the templars: loyalty to Bethany or the nature of being a mage demands that I side with the mages every time. Oh well, there's always my own imagination...

You become the Vicount as a result of the Templar ending, even. I was a bit puzzled by that. Since there was a seperate achievement just for becoming vicount, I thought it would be something you did during the course of the game.

Make Bethany a Grey Warden? Though I haven't played through that scenario comepletely yet, not sure if it'd be any better, though I'd imagine it'd be.

IMO it changes nothing. She's still a mage; being a Warden is just circumstantial.

I don't like the idea of her becoming a Warden. She clearly doesn't want to fight all her life and it's only postponing the inevitable death by thirty years, plus I have  an aversion to the Wardens (I am appalled that the Warden in the Qunari seige didn't stay to fight, the deserter), and also if I was actually Hawke there is no way I'd let her in the Deep Roads.

I was thinking that as viscount I could have her set free, but in my dreams it seems...

Side with the Templars and instead of running off without a word the entire Templar group kneels before you.

Then Varric says you left your friends behind, except for your love interest, and everything goes the same as before. There's really nothing to being Viscount and the fact that it's an achievement boggles my mind because it's one line from Varric about how Kirkwall wanted you to rule. That's it.

It doesn't matter which side you choose. You'll never have to fight your sibling.

I realize that, but I would still personally consider it a betrayal if I went with the teamplars. With Carver it's a bit different, because I understand that it's him who doesn't betray you, if you side with the mages.
