So having replayed DAO recently in preparation for DA2, the contrast between the two is strongly presented to me. And I have to say I'm irked. That's right.

Don't get me wrong, I've been DA2 every day after work for about 6 hours straight for the last 3 days. I'm immersed and devoted, and a fan of the world, the games, bioware, etc. But some things, especially in the battles, bothered me enough to make we want to stop playing long enough to see how pissed off everyone else was getting. Turns out a lot of people's sentiments mirror my own.

Heres my own list of what I consider annoyances and anti-fun mechanisms that do not positively add to the challenge factor. Why do I post such negativity if as much has already been posted elsewhere? In the hopes that Biowares people might stumble upon (or heaven forbid actually care enough about their market to check the forums) this and the many other critiques and let it inform their future endeavor. And because I'm irked. In fact, I'm positively grieved.

Presented in no particular order:

1. The invisible autospawning horde

So you've just walked up to an unsuspecting head of a street gang who was standing around with a few of his cronies and, after chatting him up for a bit, decided to kill him. What you didn't count on, though, was that following every boss char around in this game are the invible hordes of minions who like to appear in groups of a dozen or so right behind your mage at random intervals. How does that **** make sense?

Look, I could see that in some situations, there actually would be hordes involved in a fight. But in a realistic game world, if baddies aren't on screen when the fight begins, they need to come from somewhere. Not just appear out of nowhere and in incredibly convenient (for them) situations. That cannot be strategically addressed... unless you run away at every boss encounter (because the boss chases you and the minions stay), then run back and basically fight two separate battles. But that, again, is unrealistic and just plain stupid.

2. Interrupts cancel abilities/spells

This irritates me more than anything else on the list, possibly because I feel like people won't understand my feelings on it. Interrupt has a purpose: to stop a spell/ability/attack about to happen. And I'm fine with that. Really, I am. That in and of itself is not anti-fun.

What is anti-fun is that if I try to stealth my char and he is interrupted, my char doesn't automatically try to restealth afterward once he is able. I have to go back to that char and reselect the fireball spell. Now, if you have all your chars except your main following tactics instructions (cough console gamers cough), you may not notice it, because the char will just switch to doing something else. But if you, control all your chars, and intend for specific spells to be cast at specific times, then its SO annoying to have your mage cast an ice spell, switch to your rogue and have him run to backstab, only to have him find out when he gets there that the mage was interrupted because he was suddenly surrounded by a horde of thugs (see 1)  and is now just sitting there autoattacking.

Oh, and lets not forget those lovely moments when 10 interrupts in a row (again, see 1) means you can't even move your char, and he/she gets to jerk around for about 5 secs and die while you watch helplessly in horror. And all the while I'm thinking to myself, I paid  money for this torture.

The point is that it should be obvious that an auto recast is needed, because in EVERY instance an interrupt happens i have to pause and go back to do it manually. The only reason it shouldn't be done automatically is because there would be some purpose for switching to autoattack on case of interrupt. There isn't.

3. The Camera

Sure, your archer has a clear shot of the head mage, and in a realistic game world of course he has a shot; but you can't angle your camera properly to select anything other than the 20hp thug with syphillis. NEW PRIMARY TARGET ACQUIRED.

**** the camera. **** it. With a four foot black rubber ******. **** it when you're selecting a character standing next to a wall, and you can't see ****. **** it for making it impossible to get up close to a nearby group of enemies to select the right one to attack. **** it for not having a first person view for when the infintely many difficulties in seeing the freaking battlefield arise, because this is the most terrible change in a gaming camera I have witnessed. So, finally, **** it with a barbed-wire condom for clearly pandering to braindead mouthbreathing console gamers when the optimum habitat of RPGs has and always will be the PC.

TL;DR: :crying:
