I think it was implied that Anders and Karl consummated their relationship. So yeah, going all the way was something he already did with him.

Yep. Afraid so. It was a turn off for me with Zevran even though he claimed to like women more. Although Zevran telling the same thing to men has to feel discouraging.

Him telling me about Karl would make me step back. Not because he's into dudes- she may be insane, but my Hawke's very equal opportunity - but because I'd never want to intrude on someone's sorrow that way.


And who cares how many bases Karl managed to get to with Anders? The tragedy is in the loss of a loved one, not how many beds they broke in lust together.

Considering how Anders talks about the circle, with everyone kissing everyone, and the dresses for quick trysts behind hte templars backs, I think even if he never slept with Karl, he probably has slept with other men.

This. He even aks, "does it bother you that I've been with men?". Though he does mention that Karl was his "first". I interpreted it as his first substantial relationship, as evidenced by his intense anger and accidental summoning of Vengeance with the way templars treated Karl. It's all very depressing. They met and fell in love, but under the Circle's rule, they couldn't be open about it. Anders momentarily had a solution to that; he intended to make Karl an apostate so they can finally be together.

Well, considering how quick he is to respond to flirting after that quest and how he says they haven't seen each other in a long time, they couldn't have been that serious about it. I got the impression that whatever they had ended long time ago, now they're just friends.
