Why do you think DA2 is so bad?

However - I won't say I enjoyed it when I did not. And I won't say it's a roleplaying game when I expect roleplaying games to have branching storylines on some level. If all I can do is decide the fate of Fenreyil and a romance - and the rest is the same no matter how I go through the game. That is not enough for me.
I can choose which board to go to and which Plasmids to take in Bioshock - but it's not a roleplaying game. It's a storytelling game - and an absolutely amazing one at that.

- Recycled maps
- Terrible item system (Lack of armors and weapons in the game. I went through the entire game using only 3 armor sets..)
- Bad character development. AS far as attributes go, every class is restricted into 2 attributes in order to meet armor requirements but in the first 1 one stat was only required, which makes it harder to make a specific build. Example, 2-handed warriors have to get constitution to wear armor where in the first game they did not. Would be nice to pump all the points into str and cunning to make an excellent criti build.
- Redundant quests
- The world lacks a lot of detail. To be stuck in a single city the entire game which is suppose to be very large in population only to see no more than 10 NPCS in a giving area.
- Very bad companion customization options. With all the useless unique armors you find it's a shame you have to NPC them all as soon as you find better since you can't dish it off to one of your teammates who may be able to make good use of it.
- Bad companion interaction. In Origins you can talk to your companions and assess the situation at any time and develop your relationship with them at any time, in DA2 you can only develop your relationship during certain points in the game when quests are given.
- Lack of tactics and strategic elements, no Isometic camera. Iso camera was very useful in Origins because it make targeting enemies much easier, examining more of the battlefield and formulating strategies, ally positions, and targeting the ground/enemies with talents much easier. These elements were omitted for more faced passed combat and action.
- Why did they take out Skills? I for one liked having skills in the first game. Now speech checks are no longer there, or additional perks like tactics, survival, TRAP MAKING, and many others.
That's just a few things.
I completely agree with you. The fun in DA:O was the exploring new places...like the underground city of the Dwarves, or the Dalish camp, even the Korcari Wilds! I also disliked how they made so many talent trees with "upgrades" to purchase...for example, I loved the fact that in DA:O as a mage, I could use regular walking bomb
on a single opponent and not have to waste much mana, and then be able to use virulent walking bomb only when I wanted to (and not waste as much mana). Plus I hated the new animations for spells and their effects, it just wasn't as catchy as DA:O. Plus there were hardly any cinematics (notwithstanding the in-game graphics ones, which don't count)
However, I must admit, that I somewhat like the new combat animations for mages, especially on the opening scene when you own. I also liked the fact that there wasn't only 20 NPC models cloned throughout the cities. That was one thing that annoyed me with DA:O, I would come up to a guy and be all "Hey I know you!" but then I found out it was someone completely different, even though he had the same voice and appearance.
All in all, it was a rush job on Bioware's part and sadly enough...I'm going back to DA:O.
(Excited though for SWTOR! W00T!)

****ty Pretty Girl who talks trash (Isabela) -check
Same goes for Carver the emo and attention seeking brat, Aveline the righteous and..Anders. Never liked him in Awakening either...
And I also must say that the game seems so much political...world changing/rise to power.. my butt. Bioware.. I haven't lost faith in you but this game is NOT Dragon Age 2! More like 1.5. I can only hope that you will bring back the epic storytelling and memorable characters of your previous titles.

Its bad because its a rush job made to appeal to dragon ball z fans.
Its clear that anybody who didn't like DA:O likes DA2, which leads to the question as to why they were waiting for the the game in the place.

Better graphics.... downgrraded gameplay to appeal to a more... "inexperience" audience.... who the hell am I kidding, to a appeal to more idiots.
Everything would be bareable if it wasn't for the stupid idea that depending on your class one of your siblings die. I want to play a mage and fight with my sister. So much for a game based around choice....

were there things in Origins that could have been better? Sure, nothing is perfect, but expecting DA2 to be like Origins is.. well..
I like the new game and would have been a little let down if it had been just a continuation of Origins, something they have already done.. they changed things because change is good, although there are many who have a hard time with change and all the unhappy words I'm reading tell me how true that is.. it's a completely different experience than the first game and I am impressed with their courage to take it in a completely new direction.. that's always a risk but if you don't take any risks, well... you become stale and uninspired...
There are things I wish could have been different with the game, but overall I have been really enjoying it... I'm hoping it's the middle game in a series of three episodes, but with all the threads about how bad it is perhaps they will decide they are finished with the Dragon Age series and do something else now... I hope that's not true, but wouldn't blame them if they did...
I prefer to find things I like about it rather than spend time brooding over what I don't like, but that's just me I guess...

Not likely. I doubt they'll abandon this franchise. Not based on some forum hating which always happens after a game is released. They are already working on stuff.

I agree with you OP, but you missed out lack of customisation, recycled maps, bad storyline, the player being restricted to Kirkwall, weak characters, no purpose or goal, over the top Power Rangers combat (its mighty morphin time!).
