So I know there are all these essential purchases I need to make each Act (Like companion upgrades, gifts, and tombs) but I never seem to have enough for the really nice items... I see Plate Chests at 113 Sovreins in Act II and also expensive rings at 80 Sovreins. Will I ever be able to afford this stuff in Act II let alone Act III (Even though it will be gone..)?

No probably not, maybe one or in some cases 2 of these things.

The currency balance in the game isn't good, wasn't in DA:O either lol

Like I could ever buy things like the Spellward without that duping trick...

For some reason there is a very small (comparatively, especially compared to DAO) that is in the world and that you will come across. Even using items that "increase" coin drops increase it by maybe a silver. Basically, you CANNOT afford all that much save for the basic things for companions and maybe a few mid grade items. There simply isn't enough money in DA2 just like ME2. For some reason Bioware feels we have to be poor in video games to reflect the current economy.

Maybe they're just trying to make it tough for you to buy every single special item in the game, to make you choose?

Plus, IIFC, some of the items are class specific, or sort of, based on stats. What does a rogue Hawke need with special armor that requires a high magic rating?

I got through the game fine with the things I picked up, and buying the companion upgrades. Really didn't need to buy any equipment - most of the actually good stuff comes from quests or drops.

Importing a rich character helped in ME2, besides there was a neverending money flow from the pit fight.

The amount of money in DA:O was just sad and DA2 even more.

You simply cannot buy things like The Spellward, Lifegiver and Staff of the Magister Lord without duping...

I had plenty of money in ME2 and in DA:O but I'm terribly poor in DA2. And honestly I don't want multiple rare items... I'd settle for King of the Forgotten Something's armor... Maybe they'll update it.

Without cheating i was able to have 300 sovereigns by end of the game. All companions had max armor upgrades(but anders) and I had best equipment i could find on the 3 that I used. Money isn't an issue since you'll find stuff just as good as store bought.
