Just wondering, when i take her out of my party manually, the Thumbs Up ability is gone. Does this mean i can save and load as i please without her in the party and without the 5% being taken off?
If you already have the "thumbs up bug" (loading saved game w/o her in party but still have thumbs up in the ability screen) then taking her out of you're party will not do anything for you. You will still lose -5 speed per reload unless you load with her in you're party.
If you do not have her in you're party and you have not triggered the bug, the you are safe to save/load as much as you please with no penalty without her in you're party.
So basically, if I don't have "Thumbs up" under the abilities after reloading a save, everything's cool amirite?

"You will only encounter (start) the bug if you LOAD an autosave with isabella (in friendship status) that is in a mission, kirkwall at night, hawkes estate (with isabella prior in the party) and out on the island's outside the city (wounded coast, sundermount, ambushes, etc).
You can LOAD an autosave or save when she is in the party in kirkwall day (anywhere in the day time), merrill house, fenris house, anders clinic.
If you never produce the bug, you can save and load anywhere at anytime with her not in the party and not recieve the bug."
For the poster above me..
If you save and don't have "thumbs up" in you're abilities screen then yes you are ok.

What is it that you are looking for lol? What are you trying to do lol? Like hawke would say "Make sense Man!"
What doesnt work lol? You loaded a save w/o isabella in you're party and you do not have "thumbs up" in you're ability screen right? Great!! What is the problem lol. I know its late almost 12 midnight here so maybe you just need some sleep

lol, sorry. I meant the bug is still existent in spite of doing the stuff I mentioned in my previous post.
Yeah you made sense!!!
If you have a current save that you can load before you obtained Izzy's friendship then load that up, since this thread is really only about avoiding said bug.
If you want to continue the game from where you now are without suffering from the matrix (slowdown), the only thing that you can do is make sure Isabella is in you're party everytime you save.
After you started the condition everytime you load the game you will have "thumbs up" in the abilty screen
When you reload a save that already has the virus "without" isabella in your party, the game will show the "thumbs up" bonus. But it is not properly boosting hawks stats by 5 percent attack speed...it is actually doing nothing.
When you decide you want to change party members (going to change party member screen) the game subtracts 5 percent attack speed from hawke.
Saving with isabella in the party lets the game properly allocate the 5 percent attack speed to hawke upon loading said save.
When going to the Character select screen to switch her out, the game subtracts the 5 percent speed, leaving hawke in a neutral status.
Hopes this helps you now so that you can Make it Work!!!

I believe its found in here: player char: creature stats: savegame-abilitylist, only problem I haven't got a save with the bug so I cant compare the 2.
Once you know the thumb up abillity code number the easy removal/fix is to use the GFF editer to change the code to blank and poof no more thumbs up bug (it works with the summon dog spell/talent)

I'm in this exact same situation, I discovered I have the bug from more than 10 hours, and I'm really not willing to replay them.
So, as of now, the best I can do now, to avoid messing it more, is save with Isabela always in my party, maybe in Kirkwall day to be sure?
I'm on xbox, it would be a bit tricky to edit my save, but I'll try if it gets worse...

They're really taking their sweet ass time to patch this...
No kidding. Just got it playing "To Catch a Thief"
Also, you'll get the bug from the "Beliefs" missions. The game adds and then removes those characters from your party at the beginning and end of those quests. To avoid this, add the characters (Sebastian or Isabela) to your party, do the mission and then remove them before saving. If the game forces them out of your party it screws it up. Having them in your current party prevents it from adding them. Guess it's time to reload before "To Catch a Thief" and hope I don't die... Guh.

1) When Isabella is in my party, I shouldn't save while on a mission, Kirkwall at night, Hawke's Estate and outside the city. But I can save in Kirkwall during the day, Merill's house and Ander's clinic without contracting the bug.
2) If I do decide to use Isabella, I should always "remove" her from the party through the character screen before proceeding to Hawke's Estate, the Qunari Compound or any other instance where Isabella is forced out of the party.
3) If Isabella isn't in my party, I can save/reload wherever/whenever I want.
Am I correct in this assessment?

1. Download the gff4 editor 0.5.3.7z from here: http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files
2. Go in game and equip an item that adds to ATTACK SPEED. <- THIS IS RECOMMENDED OR ELSE ANIMATION_SPEED_MODIFIER MAY NOT SHOW WHEN YOU GO INTO THE GFF4 EDITOR
3. Make a save of that and then a QUICKSAVE -> press F5 to make a quicksave
4. Exit the game and look for the quicksave file under your character under biowarae under documents.
5. Open the .das file within the quicksave for your character that you just made. It should be something like Username -> Documents -> Bioware -> Dragon Age 2 -> Characters -> "Your Character's Name" -> Saves -> QuickSave_1 -> then click on the .das file (there should only be one)
6. Once it is open with the gff4 editor (which will be called the Dragon Age Origins Savegame Editor, but you can still use it for Dragon age 2), look under party, then at the stats of the abbreviated name of your character
7. Look for something called Animation_Speed_Modifier
8. Change the base value to 0.0 from what should be a negative number if you have the Isabella Virus for normal attack speed - if you want the attack animation and attack speed to be faster than normal, make it a positive number of say 10.0
9. Console users, sucks to be you. PCs FTW

Fixed it for you. Not everyone plays on PC, I'm tired of everyone assuming so.

Read my previous post; I've basically summarized everything though I'm waiting on a confirmation from the OP that it is infact correct.

1. Open gffv4.0 'editor.exe'(not the 'save game' one) and open your save game (don't forget to back it up first)
2. Open out this path:
SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR
SAVEGAME_STATLIST
27
1SAVEGAME_STATPROPERTY MODIFIER
3. The value of this for me was -75 I reset this to 0 and I have my speed back. This coupled with trying to make sure that I always remove Isabela manually via the group management has meant that I'm now trouble free. Hope this works for anyone whos not been able to fix it via the other methods. ITS AN AWESOME GAME but had I not fixed it this I would have just given up on it.

I'm pretty sure that as long as you don't have her friendship, you have no restrictions on saving, if you can avoid that.RainyDayLover wrote...
OK, I ended up re-loading an old save before I became friends with her because this bug was becoming unbearable. So, just to make sure I have this right (I'm still kinda confused on the whole thing), in order to not contract this bug again:
1) When Isabella is in my party, I shouldn't save while on a mission, Kirkwall at night, Hawke's Estate and outside the city. But I can save in Kirkwall during the day, Merill's house and Ander's clinic without contracting the bug.

Yes you are correct sir.
Alot of the questions on this thread are the same, just asked in a different format. I have tried to explain this the best way I can to be honest, and have written the same information on this thread about 5 times lol.
If she is forced out of you're party just don't save/reload when this occurs, just wait until she returns to the group. Its the same thing as going to the hawkes estate while she is in you're party (thumbs up will still be in the ability screen). When this happens do not save/reload the game while in the estate.
I might seem that I have an attitude but I really don't. I just can't believe that bioware has not patched this crap yet, or a mod sticky this information...or at least add a search bar in the forums.
If anyone has any other questions please ask or send me a message and I will try to respond to you. If you post here maybe someone else that understands the situation may help you. Thanks

I'm still glitched after receiving her friendship (and the thumbs up), despite not putting her in the party once since I received it. There's something else to the bug, and I haven't been able to figure it out after trying scenarios for 2 hours or so. Oh well; time to kick Varric to the curb for a while, I guess, so I can properly save my game.
I don't know how this can occur to be honest. If you are in a mission/quest and recieve her friendship bonus during it, and save/reload you will encounter the bug. You have been trying different scenarios for 2 hours (isnt it a freaking waste of time), but before trying the scenarios was isabella befriended already?
If you have time please post the steps that you did here, and try not to leave anything out. We will resolve the problem.
