I remember I read somewhere the time Bioware used to make neverwinter nights. I can't find it any longer. How much time it was?

Neverwinter Nights was released in August 2002 and was in production from at least June 1997.

then we can expect before the end of 2010 either 2 expansions or the dreaded sequel. I am personally rooting for the expansions, like for Baldur's Gate 2 and NWN, because this will mean that we will be able to make some great mods, like the PRC for Neverwinter Nights. if the sequel is out so soon, also, it will require tremendous hardware. and i won't be able to play it. I'd rather die XD And, on top of that, people will kick the original game away in favor of the sequel.
and a bit off-topic but important to say nevertheless: this game is very similar (perhaps better) to oblivion, also when it comes to modding.
the 3 first differences that come to my mind are:
1)the world map: it is like FFX, but that's not bad.
2)day-night cycle: non-existant, but, oh well, not all great games needed a day-night cycle
3)no horse riding: duh, maybe someone will make a "ride the high dragon" mod
overall, Dragon Age is so much better. It definitely feels alive, even without the hack-n-slash action like Oblivion. what lacks in combat dynamics is covered so well by everything else I forgot it the first time I played XD

If they are making a DA2 game, it will most likely not take 5 years, first of all because they already have a very functional engine that doesn't need a very high overturn, but if they decided to add something demanding, it'd most likely take 3 years.
Expansions or DLC will likely go on for around 2 years.

what I fear is that if they make a Dragon Age 2 it will be so good people will forget Dragon Age 1 and concentrate all their efforts on the sequel. Plus we all want expansion sets for DA, correct?
