I'm stuck.

I met the dwarf outside the city who asked me to go attack the Tal-Vasoth, which I've done and completly wiped them out, so why does it still keep asking me to complete that quest? I am unable to find anymore Tal-Vasoth hiding anywhere and am also am unable to find the dwarf who sent me out on the quest, so I can't report back to him.

Has anyone any idea what I'm supposed to do?

I went to the Qunari compound as you said but the gates are shut and I can't get in. Tried talking to that gatekeeper but he wont open a conversation with me. There's a bloke standing around inside but I can't click on him either.

I think I've solved the problem. It's my computer at fault.

Going back underground I came across a cavern entrance with what looked like a stone slab blocking it off. Before I was unable to click on it to open it but now after a reload I suddenly can. Trying to remember now how many other slabs I've come across on other quests in the past that I was also unable to open. Lol.

That is an extremely sexist remark and you ought to be absoulutely ashamed of yourself talking about the fairer sex that way. What you should have said was that Merril is skinny enough to double as a very pretty crowbar.
