At the climax of the battle against the Arishok, Hawke actually invokes blood magic, and recalls the events leading up to that point. We see Isabella turning away from Hawke... Both of these things are unexpected. If the trailer is considered canon, then it would signify that Hawke eventually sided the mages as a blood mage and possibly betrayed Isabella...

What do you guys think?

The "giant flaming hands" spell doesn't appear in game AFAIK and we have no reason to believe it's blood magic. For all we know, trailer hawke is a force mage... the spell is called "fist of the maker" after all.

i think the Trailer Can't be Canon it takes place outside and theres no one around plus that would mean that Bethany died and kind of make playing the entire game pointless

I was very disappointed when I realized that I couldn't do that giant hand spell. WHo else watched that trailer and thought to themselves "I can't wait to do that, exactly that, when I get this game?" Bioware are some mageteases.

Wait, why does it mean Bethany dies? I don't recall seeing the deep roads sequence in the trailer beyond the shot of Bartran closing the door on them...

Hawke in the Trailer is a mage therefore Bethany would die its just a long shot they might make hawke as a mage Canon but even soo the Trailer just seemed too take away from something i mean the Arishok has killed everyone he kills the Viscount then poof heres Hawke probably watched the Viscount lose his head

The trailer was Varric's exaggeration of Hawke's battle with the Arishok.

I wish the Arishok battle was that epic in the game.

What is actually disappointing is that the trailer gives you a feeling of epicness. First the combat, then Hawke walks away, glowing eyes an it seemed as if he was unstoppable. What we get is a family drama story. I'm glad they don't make trailers for hello kitty games because I would probably have bought it.

If Hawke was truly unstoppable then the game would be boring. In any case by the end of ACT III Hawke does become more or less unstoppable, especially if you got the special rune from Sandals. My mage Hawke (who I modeled after trailer Hawke) was shooting fireballs and lightnings and all kinds of epicness at super high speed. Orsino died faster than you can say "abomination" and then Hawke meleed Meredith to her end.

That's not what I meant.

Huh? The cut wasn't *that* low...

@ Alex:

What did you mean then? Both DAO and DA2 trailers showed a single battle of (IMO) equal epicness. I don't think it's fair to expect the entire game to be one long, endless epic battle. Besides, there are way more epic battles in DA2 than there were in DAO.

Other than being a blood mage, I never understood the "smear my blood across my nose" part. What is the significance of that and why is it on one of the default Hawkes?

He means Hawke was mad cause the Arishok broke the Staff of Parlathan.

I don't think it's actually blood. First of all, blood would oxidize in air and turn brown after just a few hours. Second, unless Hawke never washes his face, that blood trail should not stay there for years and years... It's not a frigging tattoo...

So you agree he's a blood mage then? And the staff isn't broken, at the end Hawke picks it back up and does the glowing-eye-while-walking-in-place-with-burning-hand thing...
