I prefer my custom Hawkes as well. However I also like blood-smear-less Default Lady Hawke. Just wondered what everyone else thought.

I don't like how we can't have our nutella smear on customHawke. My Hawke wanna show his support for nutella as well.

Ok, I am sure I missed something, but what in the hell is the blood smear supposed to mean? I figured there would be a codex entry or something. Or a cut scene. If its just supposed to show how bad-ass my character is, cant I cut the head off an ogre and use its head as a tea pot? Less messy then a blood smear.

What is with that blood smear? They explained it in the trailer but they never explained it in game. I can't imagine anyone would walk around with their blood on their face on purpose. I mean, that's gotta be a health hazard. Or smelly or SOMETHING.

Is that something you only find out if you play a default Hawke? Like there's an extra cutscene where they explain why Hawke's ALWAYS got blood on his/her face?!

I got to thinking, depending on the source of the blood, maby its some sort of elfy(Sorry, but I call all knife ears variations of 'elfy') blood writing? Only instead of writing its more of a smear. *shakes fist* Darn you darkspawn for ruining my face! Or whomever the blood came from

...Maybe it's her/his dead sister/brother's blood. A little memorial to their fallen sibling... I... just grossed myself out.

But seriously, I think the explanation is: "It looks cool".

I didn't use default Hawke, but if I did it would be the male+bloodsmear version. I'm somewhat disappointed you can't put the bloodsmear on custom Hawkes, but at least you get tattoos.

You could put the blood smear on a custom Hawke. Just get a red marker and whenever Hawke's face is on screen scribble one on!

male hawke no blood smear.
it just doesnt look right having it on ALL the time, if it only appeared during combat quests then yeah i'd use it but running around town talking to nobles and stuff it felt so weird to have.

I made a female 2h warrior called 'Squall Hawke' and that is the only time i've used the blood smear (since she looks a lot like him). I can't play male Hawke with the blood smear because I can't play as default male Hawke. I hate his beard

All my males have to be custom.

My first playthrough, I made a custom male face. I got a few fights in and realized that it didn't look nearly as cool as the defaults, so I restarted with default WITH smear.

Now I'm playing through again, female Hawk WITH smear.
