Seriously, after that terrible ending it felt like the game was about to start. This is the type of game everyone worried about being made once EA took over years ago. Staying in Kirkwall was a fail and boring as the city stayed exactly the same and lifeless the whole game. I felt like I'd achieved nothing story wise and none of the loose ends from DA:O were even spoken about let alone resolved. Unforgivable. This also felt like an incredibly linear game by BioWare standards. I felt like nothing I did really had an effect on where the story was going.
Sort it out BioWare. You'll get away with this once or twice but your reviews and sales will start to fall if you lose that reputation you built up over many years. I can't believe DAII is getting 9/10s. It's a 6 or 7 at best.
This Entire Game Felt Like One Long Prologue

Game informer said last year that we would decide the fate of different cities over 10 years but I see that didn't come to pass.

Da 2 just feels rushed in my opinion.but as for Bw's reputation that should be safe until next year, When The Old Republic is released, MMO fans are the worst and if it fails Bw will take a huge hit.

The trailers and dev diaries led me to believe that our choices, as The Champion, had consequences, but really, The Champion wasn't "One of the most Important People in Thedas", He/She was just kinda dragged along like water going down a drain.
Your choices were pretty much meaningless in this game, You could only choose to Kill/Neutralize Anders once the deed was done and you could only choose to hand over Isabela once the Qunari had slaughtered hundreds of innocents.

And you couldm't kill petrice for using you the first time you met (or just walk away and let her die ofc) She's a chantry sister, why would my apostate care what happened to her? (Unless I got to blind and deafen her to giver her a taste of tranquility ofc.)

And Yet she escapes from them 3 days later thanks to Biowares Plot shield

people wonder why so many things from DA:O didn't carry over.
"why is person x here, i thought they died in my playthrough?"
"where's morrigan and her god-baby?"
"wheres my warden?"
the answer? DA:O was less streamlined.
therefore it is my opinion that DA2 has become slightly more streamlined for the sake of making it easier to produce DA3 and working around trying to fit in the missing stuff from DA:O. DA:O was a great game, but it didn't leave alot of room for a "Mass-Effect-Style" sequel like bioware seemed to have let on was going to happen with DA2.
the game is still really fun i assure you, unless you are looking for reasons to not like it or dare i say, LISTENING to online reivews?!

I thought it was a pretty good game. Certainly not up to the standards of the original Dragon Age game but still pretty darn enjoyable. I have one major complaint about it and that's the constant reinforcements coming from nowhere.

I enjoyed both games, prefer DA:O to be honest, since it was epic in scale and interaction of characters all of which were written superbly. DA2 while being more linear and fast paced really didn't have the same impact as its predecessor nor ME1.
But then again, its a standard character a refugee fleeing from Lothering during the Blight to face a new life in Kirkwall. From there you just get to pick his choice in dialogue and weapons/armour. There is no back story, such as if a mage did your father teach you, did he die after the twins were born, did you teach Bethany.
Or how is it that you are so good a warrior, who trained you? are you self taught. At least in ME1 you pick Shepards background and characters react accordingly. Which then gets brought across into ME2. Which is more like DA2 but ME2 is a better game because of the scope of it and the fact that you have a mission, you have a team, here are your objectives, get it done.
I hope DA2 is a stepping stone for a better DA3 which btw for more variety in settings, BW you can put on 2 discs, you have done it before with ME2.

The framing story seemed a bit pointless and mostly there for the sequel hook, but I felt the story of Hawke and his/her struggles in Kirkwall stood up OK on it's own.

lol 6 or 7? Compared to Dao it is not as bold in storyline, but that does not make up the entire funnabilitiy of a game. The narrative suffered horrendous pacing, but it's still miles ahead of a lot of rpgs in terms of storyline depth.
Find something not released by Bethesda or Bioware that you consider to be superior to da2 that you could class as a traditional rpg (i.e. games like red dead redemption and STALKER don't count), then you can justify it's '6 or 7'.
Funfacts:
1. First playthrough on this i spent more hours than i did on Fallout NV in total (2.2 playthroughs + DLC) and Fallout 3 +DLC. Sure I might not have been as thoroughly entertained, but i *was* challenged (my patience, especially
)
2. Oblivion will be 5 years old tomorrow. Q_Q
