Isabela Friendship Bug - How Bad Is It?
#1

I've almost maxed out Isabela's friendship by now, and I just discovered that having full friendship can basically make Isabela a useless character - instead of boosting her attack speed it slows her down. Well the sad part is Isabela is my one of main DPS and from what I've heard this is pretty bad. Is it bound to happen? Is it possible to avoid it? Should I just stop romancing her now? Is there any word from Bioware on this?
And may I just say the bugs in this game is a bit out of control? I know DA:O was done in 5 years and DA2 in 1.5, but that was no execuse for such poor quality management, to the point the otherwise good (not great) experience is borderline unbearable. I don't recall ever playing another Bioware game THIS buggy.

what happens is that the basic Atk speed is 0.0, if you have Isabela friendship she should booster your atkspeed by 5%, but what happen is that it reduces over time, when i notice that my character Atk speed was -55.0.

Between this, the NUMEROUS minor bugs, and the Maker's Sigh bug, it really makes me wonder if Bioware should consider firing their debug team... *Sigh*

Thx for the reply. So it happens 100% of the time?*
i think it does, as long as you have her friendship and she stays on your group your atk speed goes down, people also complain about Sebastian, he sucks your spell resistance.
obs: i don't think there is a way to see your atk speed on the game, the way that i manage it was with the program.

Starting to see the issue here Nimpe?, either that or you did get the slow but only to a small degree and therefore you should consider yourself lucky

You were probably slowed down by a small amount.Nimpe wrote...
I 100%ed isabela and used her in my party on the ps3 and I wasn't slowed down.
I used Isabela throughout my first playthrough as a mage and never noticed a slow down. When I opened the save game editor, my attack was -10%. It doesn't seem to happen every time you remove her from your party or even every time you go to your house.

If it slows you down so unnoticably, why is everyone complaining that it's gamebreaking?

I recall one: DA:O. That thing was (and still is) riddled with bugs, 5 years of development notwithstanding. Screwed up plot flags all over the place (mostly these affected dialogue, but they also resulted in erroneous Codex updates, and in a number of sidequests becoming impossible to finish), the dagger DEX bug, the Haste+Momentum bug, the game going into an unwinnable state when playing both sides in Orzammar (that's actually a plot flag issue as well. Took 'em ages to fix it too), numerous quests missing XP and loot rewards, Mana-Clash-to-desktop ( and Holy Smite), Anora's rescue mission and Fort Drakon both being fairly likely to confiscate your gear permanently, countless issues with DLC deciding it wasn't authorized or didn't feel like being downloaded or installed, etc., etc., etc.
It even had a one really annoying one not too unlike the Isabela/Sebastian bugs: the game might decide at some point to deduct all your item stats (including resistances) from your base stats. IOW, not only did you not get the bonuses anymore, but you had to keep the gear on just to maintain what you're supposed to have with NO gear equipped at all. Thankfully, and unlike Is/Seb, that one's a real rarity.

I'm safe to say that that didn't happen, so there must be some variable or... something that explains why I didn't get the bug.

Because, what you seem to fail to understand... is.. if you have her at 100% and change her in and out alot.. the Effect Stacks. If you like her alot and keep her around most of the time, or barely ever use her. It will likely be a less noticeable amount of speed you are loosing, but if you swap her in and out alot, because you play a bit more tactical... maybe on a higher difficulty where you do have to be more sensible about who you pick for which quest and situation, it does racke up said slow effects.
If every time you switch her out, move into your house or have her removed you have a... for the sake of the argument.. 50/50 chance of getting a permanent -5% debuff, which just gets stacked uppon, instead to "reset"... then you might understand why people are upset if their characters end up with a -100% speed debuff they can't get rid of.
