So, there's this crowned and somewhat ominous looking crest all over Kirwall, and several times, there's a red dragon crest painted over it and, sometimes, painted by itself.
I was expecting some kind of story there. I know that both represent Old Gods, but why paint a dragon over a dragon? The original crest dates way back (of course), and the new, simplified grafiti seems very, very recent.
What's that all about? Is it just something to remind us about the return of the Old Gods as archdemons or something? Is there some hidden cult that wants to bring them back? Is it a political statement against the Chantry's teachings? Is that Anders' doing? Is it a sign of a specific gang? What is it? It's driving me mad!
Or is it just eye-candy for the sake of being artistic or silly?

I think the new painting is Hawke's crest, just speculation on my part though

have all those "hawk"' statues and paintins everywhere was kinda...dumb. Honestly.

Problem is: The Amell family crest is a winged thing, too, but with no crown and still very similar to Kirkwall's crest. We already know Kirkwall's past worship of the old gods and placing their images everywhere, hence the crown in its crest of a dragon. The red grafiti is most likely a dragon due to the tail. The Eagles/Falcon/Hawk/some bird of prey statues are strangely coincidental, but the heads that hang over the halls in the Keep look a bit more dragon-ish than avian.
The Amell crest has no reason to resemble a Hawke, but if it's an old name, it could have something to do with the Old Gods like the Kirkwall crest. That would be three things in Kirkwall dealing with dragons specifically. If the gargoyle-like heads are also dragons, that makes four things.
A lot of dragon things running around -- three with plausible explanations and one grafiti with no explanation except for a coincidence with the 9th age's name.
