Some people find a lighter skin tone more attractive. How is that racist?

Lets talk about the pciture you chose for what she looks like now, its a digitally altered version, the face is completely wrong. So there is no proper reference with this picture at all.

Okay maybe she has been darkened a bit much, but a pale skinned blond? Come on.

The reason I went with that picture was due to the distinct lack of lighting potentially screwing things up. You'll note that I went and took my own picture of Isabella from DA:O. The reason for that? There is literally no good pictures of her in that game, from what I can tell.

But yeah, here's a (presumably) less edited version of what I found for DA2's Isabella: http://media.photobu.../48isabella.jpg

Now then, I'm going to quit looking for pictures of the woman now. It's unsurprisingly difficult to find good ones without also ending up at sites I'd rather not be at.

yeah that one is much better, yes its hard to get a good screen shot of the compaions unless you take a good deal of time playing with your camera angle in the game.

What
the mod* in question makes her look like: http://www.dragonage...-1300246520.jpg

I'm
gonna have to call shenanigans on making her white, giving her blonde
hair, and changing her eye color to blue. That's a very loaded combination there

Why? I personally prefer the in-game Isabella to that, but that's a product of my personal tastes. Why is someone prefering one skin tone/eye color/hair color some how racist? Don't we all have preferences? For me, it depends on the hair... for example, I like short, dark hair- in which case I don't really care about skin tone one way or another. My girlfriend now is very light skinned with that kind of hair, by my previous (with similar hair) was black... but after short dark hair, I like long red hair, preferably on very pale skin (ginger).

My point is we all have tastes, and it doesn't make one racist to prefer a lighter skin tone to a darker one.

I don’t know. Apparently you’re also a homophobe if you don’t want Anders to give you a mouthful of balls.

Dunno... I found her instantly repulsive. I have an aversion against women who use their female charms to manipulate people, and complain that they get reduced to them at the same time. Both things are present in her very first cutscene. Her further conduct in the game did nothing to further endear her to me either - and when she finally ran off with the relic, condemning hundreds of people to death, I just wanted to throw her to the Qunari. Had they caught her, I wouldn't have lifted one finger to save her. Why would I feel any affection for a slinky hussy who betrays me the first chance she gets? Especially one that is so pea-brained that she'll risk getting on Hawke's bad side, after seing first hand, multiple times, what happens to people who do.

I wouldn't know about that. But so far I'm seeing blonde hair preset mods for the Hawke family, the option to give companions blue eyes, mods that make Isabela white.... The list goes on...

I'm still waiting for a mod that makes all Tevinter slave traders Asian and for all Qunari to look middle eastern. /sarcasm

I think she’s supposed to appeal to the Sex and the City fanbase.

Isn't Isabella so irrestible? Oh my gosh i have fantasies about her you wouldn't dream of. Some (if not all ) of her dialogue is saucy...and she really makes you smile.
I think she is a very strong character, much like Leliana was in DA:O.
I have just found the *ship in a bottle* gift for her which i will give to her later...:)
I hope she is in DA3 (if there is a DA3) unless of course something terrible hapens to her before the end of DA2.
I pray nothing does happen to her.

PS: The lighter skin mod really makes her look even more sexy. You can get the mod at Nexus...just click on recent files. Quite a few mods there for DA2.

I disagree I greatly like Isabella and I hated Leliana, every time Leliana spoke in DA:O I wanted to punch her in the face, also she was the creepiest character in Orginis, she watches people while they sleep! thats only a step away from being a stalker

Isabella's face was not even that dark in Origins, The Origins Isabella was based off of:

The DA2 Isabella's face is based off my old landlord

Ah, but Isabela doesn't complain. She embrace's it. I think people mistake her for a **** when she's just a ****. I only use these words since apparently, no society came up with a non-offensive term for women that enjoy sex with different partners (i.e. are only interested in a physical relationship - hooray for ****...uh....fun-buddies). Contrary to popular belief, she doesn't sleep with just anybody - it's not like she just sits around waiting for someone like Lucky to pick her up. It's more like...she's sitting around waiting for someone like Hawke to pick her up. Way different.
Also, it's not her fault if people run head on into what they think is a relationship. You can either handle casual sex or you can't. Complaining afterwards is a bit hypocritical, isn't it?

And as to how she could condemn people to their death - a) she's a pirate, it's what pirate's do despite all efforts by Johnny Depp and B) she actually came back...cuz she has conscience. Which makes point a) kind of redundant. Nevertheless, what would you do if you shut off yourself emotionally from everybody. You would be surprised how willingly humans send other people into death to save their own skin. Few have the courage to "take one for the team" when it really counts. She came back, ready to face the Arishok. Ready to duel him or to suffer the consequences. Of course you would've had to be nice to her (i.e. not judging her, I don't know what sexual preferences have to with one's character anyway) to make her realise it's good be...good. But why trying to change someone's life for the better, right?

Isabela and Varric were the only characters I instantly liked TBH; they react well to sarcasm, they don't take everything so damn "end-of-the-world" seriously and since I let Hawke give the answers I'd give (roughly) I mostly ended up with being ironic and telling jokes. SIncew the only femal character reacting well to that, I liked Isabela and let my Hawke romance her.

Because if someone disagrees and has no reasoning, they tend to call names instead.

Uh, she does complain to Lady Hawke... and my issue with ther is not that she likes having sex with multiple partners (I believe the polite word you were looking for is promiscuous) - to each their own, but that she blatantly uses her body to manipulate others.

What do you mean, she comes back? She didn't come back in my playthrough (and I won some friendship points with her by snarking and dropping gifts into her lap...). She and the thingy were gone for the rest of the game. So yes, I know that that's what pirates do - but I think that I'm entitled to dislike pirates (Since you brought up PotC - I found myself cheering for Norrington). So the point still stands - I. Don't. Like. Her. Not to mention that she knew right from the beginning what the relic was - and she chooses not to tell you, no matter the circumstances, right?

All I can say is that she rubbed me the wrong way right from the start, so I kept my contact with her to a minimum. If I liked DA2 better, I would consider starting a playthrough in which I ignore her alltogether - as in never recruit her. The war thingy is as inevitable as everything in the game is, so whatever...

Funny, the ones I liked most were Aveline and Varric - because I never felt the need to second-guess them. They are both steadfast and loyal - and in a vipers-nest like Kirkwall I have less than no use for people I can't trust.

I wasn't being racist. Isabella looks nothing like she did in DA:O and i didn't find her attractive in that.
But in DA2 she has had a makeover and it is my personal preference to have her with a lighter toned skin.
I find her very attractive now..so .when she gets a another ship we can sail away and liive a life on the ocean waves.

With bottles of rum .:)
