Isabela is pretty much the only heterosexual option for Male Hawke in terms of a love interest IMO. I mean, I like Merrill's character overall, but I get the impression that she's really young--and thus I get the sense that Hawke would be robbing the cradle if he tried to romance her; making the whole thing rather awkward to me.

Isabela seems more appropriate for Hawke the way I see it. I guess if you make a really young-looking Mage Hawke, Merrill might make more sense.

It's pretty disappointing how many DLs that mod has gotten. It reminds me of the mods to change CJ (from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) to white.

A lot of white people just cannot deal with having to interact with anyone of darker shades in any instance. Even while this game and the majority of other CRPGs are tailor made to have white/european as the default look, they can't expand their horizons (or at least move on without complaining) for just a tiny bit.

Oh. And don't get me started on how many people would romance an Alien over Jacob in ME2.

COME ON, why in the world would anyone dl a mod to make Isabella blonde or light skinned ? She already has perfect looks. Huge props to who ever modeled her and big minus to u sick male human warrior noobs for downloading the mods.

Personally, the only physical thing about her I dislike is her piercing (or is it just jewelry?) on her chin. It looks awkward.
I think if you lighten her skin and make her blonde she looks too much like the stereotypical valley girl. Which is boring to me, but I've never been partial to blonde guys so it would follow that I'm not partial to blonde girls. Which is a personal preference.
Anyway, I adore Isabela, I'm doing a playthrough just to romance her (and I normally don't bother with the female characters unless I need a trophy for them).

Bad, golden hearted and a bit ****ty pirate girls need piercings! Otherwise it would be like Captain Hook without a hook hand.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I LOVE a good facial piercing.
I just don't like hers. It's like Anders' earring in Awakening. It should be sexy but there's something off about it.

But no, you're right... that doesn't make any sense. Different people having different preferences! HA! What a crazy idea. Racism is much more of a reasonable conclusion to draw. Yep. The number of melanin deficient women in biosware games speaks for itself. I would prefer the original to a knockoff any day of the week.

You're kissing bone and one wrong slip means you have no more lips to kiss with. How sexy. Don't even get me started on anorexic hips.

Apologies but... having preferences is kind of the whole point of racism. I understand the argument you're trying to make, but  surely you can understand how someone can see whitening up all the darkies as just a wee bit racist?

I like Isabela just the way she is. While I don't find the modded "pale skinned, blonde, blue eyed Isabela" any less attractive, it's just... not her.

I don't care about skin colour, I care about personality. Isabela has that in spades, IMHO.

However, I'd be a big hypocrite if I declared that mods to change her "race" were racist... Since by the same yard stick, someone would be quite right to call me a heterophobe. I have written some, and read far too much femslash to be completely innocent of that, if that's the way we measure derivative works.

No, it is not disappointing. The majority of people who play games like this are white people. White, heterosexual males, to be specific. By the fact that this mod got so many downloads is evidence in an of itself that we dont want to be force-fed the only human female to be non-white, which is what it was.

The entire romance options in this game is either homosexual or interracial, in any form or context with perhaps the exception of Anders, but with what he does in the end it doesnt make it anymore compelling. Those who downloaded that mod wanted a human white female, not someone made out to be something that they really were not, even from the first game.

Bioware has an agenda - to force feed changing societal standards on what is considered "out-dated social norms" concerning race and sex.

To those that support that - **** you. It is not racist to be with your own kind.

By the mere fact that you call it racist for those who want that shows that you yourself are the racist ones because you cant call anything racist without acknowledging that your race is already different than the one your calling racist in the first place.

Your nothing but damn hypocrites. Shut up and go away.

Um, what? No.

Racism is about irrational hatred. Preferences are essentially one's tastes. Everyone in the world has their own preferences--this does not make them racist. Furthermore, physical attraction and the individual preferences that are tied into that are typically not something that people control. In any case, just because physical attraction for one type of person may be greater than the physical attraction for another type of person doesn't necessarily mean that the latter is hated or even disliked.

The only racism--read: irrational hate--I see here is from the nonsensical opposition to such a mod.

And no, I cannot see how someone making a mod to lighten, darken, or otherwise change skin color as racist. The idea is absolutely absurd to me. The fact that anyone has taken even moderate levels of offense to such a mod is equally as absurd to me. There is no reasonable or logical explanation as to why it should be anyone's concern how anyone else decides to mod their VIDEO GAME.

Although I hate to be the bearer of bad news, in this case I must make a exemption. People of a color darker than tan are normal. Gay people are normal. Acknowledging their existence is no more "force feeding" than Bioware including up and down. People may not like to be called racist, but they sure don't mind being racist.
