This dagger available from emporium in act 3 has very low dps (48) but does spirit rather than physical damage. It also has 2 rune slots.
Is this an unexpectedly-powerful item?
I know that spirit damage ignores 50% of resistances, but I wonder is that enough to make the resulting damage equal to what a 80-something dps dagger would do.
It probably depends on who you plan on killing. This would be a templar-killing weapon it seems.
Anyone use it and love it?
Maker's Kiss deceptively powerful?

Definently one of the best daggers.
That dagger and Finesse are the two that I used for the rest of the game.
I just put two spirit runes in it so it would be up to par with Finesse.

i was excited to get it a few days ago, but i look at it again and... only 26 dps? (+10 spirit dmg)
my 37 spider's heart seems much better.
Makers kiss is 0/5 starrs even....
did an update nerf it?

It's deceptively powerful. Just to demonstrate, here's some hits on Orsino on Nightmare:

That's with a +spirit damage rune and a +6% damage rune. The other dagger I used was Finesse, which hit pretty consistently for ~250 damage. It affects your abilities as well (by making them do Spirit damage with that hand).
And yeah, you're absolutely right about it destroying Templars. Here's a (non-brittle) Assassinate to demonstrate:

Maker's Kiss did 3x the damage Finesse did during the Assassinate.
EDIT: Some creatures take reduced Spirit damage, however. I seem to recall it doing poor damage vs Shades, but I haven't checked recently.

Which hand you have each dagger in? Its hard to tell from your pick.

digging this out as i cant find the reason for this weapon to be
Maker's Kiss
26 spirit dam (48 dps) 2 runes 3% crit +10spirit req 42 DEX
it costs 94 gold .... its DEX req should imply it should be in pair with Low Blade
also there is
Shadow's Claw
35 spirit dam (68 dps) 1 rune 4% crit 3% speed req 35 DEX costs mare 6.6 g
from tests Maker's Kiss is inferior .. broken item then ?
