 Hi people,

The reason for this forum is because I can't access the game at all right after I downloaded and installed the latest patch (HOTU) so I was wondering what I should do because when I click on the play button it directs me to the first loading bit but nothing else appear when its gone. Anyone Help? :crying:

did you use the critical rebuild to get your update, or the auto-update?

There can be a difference in the way they patch the game.

Hmmm, sounds like a Graphics bug....

Are you using Windows Vista or 7?

I am going to be so kind as to quoting what is written there currently so you don't have to click the link even hehe. It is my "tips on what to do when somehting doesn't work list" gathered from different forums and threads especially conserning running the game with win7 or Vista but even solving some other general problems....

Posted on the GOG boards

Rows marked with * are only for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. Theese systems sometimes clash a little with NWN unfortunately...and need special attention. Windows XP always works....

-* Always start the game from NWMAIN.EXE (instead of the normal nwn.exe).

-* For both files above...right click and specify to run with full permissions as administrator. Also use compatibility mode: Windows XP SP3. (For this to work the game probably needs to be installed into a different folder than the default "programs" one. Install it in a folder on the root to be sure...or another harddrive...)

-* In nwn.ini set Safemovie=1

- Download and install the 1.69 critical rebuild patch from http://nwn.bioware.c...port/patch.html

- If you ordered the game from GOG and are going to play multiplayer (online) make sure to order the needed CD-keys from GOG to be able to do that.

-* Not sure about this but if nothing else works you could also try getting an older Direct X version (9b I think it was). It should run together with newer version without problems...(?).

-* (Only for Vista users) Not sure about this but if nothing else works you can also try turning off UAC (User Account Control).

-* Not sure about this but if nothing else works you can also check the "Client CPU Affinity" setting in the nwnplayer.ini file and make sure it fits your computer.

Glad to hear you got it working.

Glad to see also that you took the time to post what fixed it for you here; maybe someone will read this and get some help from it.

Thanks for this tip. I noticed strange things after I patched it to the CEP2.3. I just purchased the game a few days ago too.  Now the game starts up with crashing using W7 64bit.

There's no such thing as "patching to CEP 2.3"... the CEP is a completely seperate community compilation pack, not an official product.
