Hello all!  Well I'm looking for a bit of help.  My computer power cable got cut in half in a move about 6 months, and now I'm finally got a new one.  I've been really busy and just using the laptop, but now that I have a few days off I figured I'd finish off Origins before starting DA2.

I log in and realize my version is really out of date, I patch up to 1.4, I go in and it won't let me load a game.  I don't even have a save game!  DOH! :(

After rummaging around here I figured out where a save game would be stored, which I believe I have.  Has my character, saved games, his outfit and everything.  :o

So now...what do I do?   Do I copy the character folder into my Dragon Age folder?  Do I need any of the other folders surrounding the character folder?   AddIns, Logs, News, packages, etc?

Thanks anyone who can help!

I'm in sort of the same situation... I have a folder of saved characters, but they're not appearing in the game. Mine is the result of reformatting and re-installing my operating system. The odd part is that a new character I created after reinstalling the game is ALSO in the same folder, and that one is showing up, but the other characters in the folder are not. There must be some kind of character list in the program folder? Maybe?

I should mention I'm using the Steam version.

I got mine sorted. Windows 7's library system turned everything around. I had two Bioware folders, one with my newly created character in a subdirectory of my storage hard drive, and one with all my old characters in my My Documents folder. I copied all my old characters over to the new folder, and they're all showing up now.

I'd do a search for Bioware folders and see if you don't have more than one.

I had a problem where i could not save or delete any games. Also my configuration tool would crash. I noticed that in C:\\Users\\username\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters the files where set to read only. I turned off read only on C:\\Users\\username\\Documents\\BioWare and all my problems where solved. Hope this helps

Tried this, they were read only, but didn't have any affect.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

I tried this, but made the mistake of just using my real name as the character name, went through origins, then realized when I tried to find the file I couldn't with the search function without getting 10,000 hits from other files.  Will try again today.
