Sword/shield distance closer attack = snare?

Has anybody else noticed this?  I recently decided to mess around with Aveline as my warrior instead of Fenris despite the fact that sword/shield does far less damage.  I just wanted a little bit of variety.  I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Av's distance closer attack (she rushes in and bashes with her shield if you attack something a few meters away) seems to slow the enemies movement a TON for several seconds, something that I never saw happen with Fenris' distance closer.  It was pretty amazing to just bounce around from enemy to enemy snaring everything as they chased my party around.  It made up for her lack of damage quite nicely.

What I'm wondering is if the slow effect is Aveline specific, or specific to her special shield I was using  (Lion of Orlais), or if any sword/shield warrior has the slow effect by default.

Just stopped right there. You're misinformed:

Meh, I'm familiar with that thread. I personally think that 2h weapons hitting more than 1 target quite often with auto-attack counts for a lot more than people give it credit for. I'm aware that single target damage is comparable.

SnS can hit multiple enemies with auto attack as well, just in a smaller arc.

2h hits the front 33%, S&B hits the front 25%. It's not a large difference. Shield Bash and Assault hit multiple enemies in the forward arc too.

SnB being able to 'shield bash' multiple enemies really helps though, as well as their much improved defenses.

also, 'scatter' nicely replaces the ability to hit lots of enemies at once (scatters can't be used as much, but it knock them away longer, and is a CCC).

Can we get back to the original question behind the first post, instead of debating something that's already been done to death in another thread?

Its possible you had some source of cold damage like from Elemental Weapons.

I've noticed that when auto-pursuing enemies with SnS that their movement is slowed, without elemental weapons. Not sure what is causing it though.

i started a new SnS warrior, and ya i can confirm that there is some form of slow being applied when i ping pong between my tank targets, i still havent found a name/status debuff for it though, but mobs are running slower for at least 3 - 4 sec after i do my ranged slide and slam.
