I liked the DA2 story and all, cool to climb from the bottom of society.
But i would like the next DA story to have more impact on the country ur in not just a city. Leading a slave rebellion in Tevinter sounds like a good idea for me. THAT would have some impact on Thedas :) Like in Origins when ur leading an army at the climax

You got any big wishes?

I felt the story to DA 2 was pretty epic in it's own right, while yes it focused around Hawke's climb to champion, the world around him is slowly coming apart at the seams. I'm not sure how varied the Epilogues can be, and I've only played through once, but my ending had pretty big impacts on the world, namely the Circles were starting to push back against Chantry rule. When you look at it as a purely Hawke game, then yes, it is pretty minor. But when you look at it as Kirkwall and then what is happening around the rest of the world, it feels much more epic. Maybe I just enjoyed the humbler feel of having a more defined character in the world.

As for what I want to see next, I really want to see Orlais. There are all these rumors and murmurs of troubles happening there, even through DA:O, but we never get to see it! I want to see this majestic city of Val Royeaux, see the Heart of the Chantry, see why the Grey Wardens were heading there during the Qunari Invasion. I personally feel Tevinter would be too big of a leap to take the story. It seems like a fairly solitary nation. Though, if they were to have a giant war against the Qunari, that would be pretty cool.

Actual effect on the world. Actual rise to power. Ability to use that power to actually have an impact. Less errand boy status or at least be an errand boy with meaning. IE like DAO you had to do things to gather an Army to fight the Blight but at least then you got to COMMAND IT in the end.

Also, Orlais is way in the south and far from the Qunari main battle lines. Highly unlikely you'll see Qunari, especially if you head inland.

Yeah, I'd like to see Orlais, too. Repeating caves/mansions/tunnels aside, the look of the environments (as well as 'visual atmosphere') in DA2 are an improvement over DA:O (they still could be better, tho'). I'd like to the main cathedral of the Chantry in Val Royeaux. (I wonder if it looks like Notre Dame de Paris...but larger?)

Oh, and my Warden. I want him (and Morrigan, of course) back.

Hmm, how about having both the Warden AND Hawke in one party? (I could see it: Warrior or Arcane Warrior Warden, Morrigan, Warrior Hawke, Varric. I'd like to see larger party sizes...the last parts of DA2 were actually quite amusing in that I'm seeing most of my companions in the fight, and not just those I chose for me 4-man party)

Also, the size of the fights in DA2 are a step up from DA:O, but, hopefully, to give that 'more epic' feel, maybe they can do away with waves next time. I know it's not a story thing, but it does feel a bit 'off''.

I'm not entirely happy with DA2, but, if anything, I think it did a decent job in setting up, well, 'something'. I just hope said 'something' involves the characters from both DA:O and DA2 (in the sense that we control them, and not just 'meet and greet' them or have them referenced, of course).
I mean, it'd seem a bit 'wrong' if the 3rd game were about another hero/heroine's rise...right?

Oh and Tevinter. I'd like to see Tevinter, too. :D
And Par Vollen. :D
And Rivain and Antiva. :D

...hmm. Methinks it would be nice if we could go around in a ship visiting places (and have random encounters at sea. What? It's a fantasy setting! There's probably a Kraken thingy or a Cthulhu-like thingy in it, right? Especially the Cthulhu thingy, since it is a 'dark fantasy'...)
*sigh* suddenly reminds me of the old Sid Meier's 'Pirates!' somehow...

Would like to see another "personal" story. I'm kind of fed up with saving the world or lands.

I'd be content with just about anything so long as Hawke's the protagonist and Jo Wyatt's doing the dialogue.

Ye Orlais is a good choise too, all the noble intrigues could make some very interresting twists and quests, i just hope we can play as Hawke again. If they make a new hero DONT give him French accent! Power struggle is fun. I realy liked in Awakening that u could make choices and build the keep, it was on a small scale but i want more!

And yes, in the very end your choices does make some big changes in the world, but we dont feel them (both mages and the templars rebell anyways thou). There should be some kind of ending like after u kill the archdeamn in Origing, where u can talk to all you companions and the important people you meet.

I sorta want it to take place in Orlais but I don't want the protagonist to be from there. Also I don't want to play as Hawke or the warden again even though they were both awsome

i liked her in DA2 best... but now that i think of it, that would make a badass DLC... we don't really need a 20 hour game for her (like 5 would be killer).

although, i do want to fight in this war we got going now... but thats probably expansion material.

i just hope we aren't cramped up in one city next time... the town wasn't very interesting

yeah i agree.

all the "super epic story for the sake of being over-epic" is boring.

"so you're telling me theres a big evil monster thats going to destroy the world and im the only one that can stop it?"
"yup!"
"well i just lost interest in this story..."

When i first heard about DA 2 and the story lasting 10 years and having the impact of what you decide affect the course of the game i thought "i wonder if you become King of the city state at one point (King dying in trailer) and then go to war with the Qunari or at least defend the city (people of YOUR city being the blood wings of the DA 2 dragon"... so it didn't turn out as epic as i thought it would but settling for what was in game (loved the betrayal parts of the story... shouldn't NEED to ask Fenris to join me after all Hawke has done for him!. so i killed him.

on topic: I hope the hero of the next game is the Warden's son but i guess that would require him to be a mage due to the fact he is a living god, but i hope it plays out with Hawke, Warden and third hero (DA 3 hero) putting the World back together while the Qunari take this chance to invade.

ps. all three heros will be mages for me, if you hadn't guessed lol.

If my theory is correct and that the main plot is more about 'The Dragon Age' itself rather than any one (or two, in this case) individuals, we'd probably see a third hero. Orlais is the likeliest choice, but I also would not mind seeing the Anderfels, or even Nevarra. Perhaps the third hero can become a dragon knight or some sort of dragon hunter?

Another route I would not mind seeing would be a game involving both the Warden and the Champion in different, branching storylines, much like in Origins. You pick one or the other and hear of or follow up on decisions made by the other protagonist. Maybe they can even do it this way: you play through once as the Warden, doing his/her part of the story, then load it into the Champion's storyline where the Warden's actions directly impact the Champion's, or vice versa. Like, if the Champion chose not to clear out a cave of murderous squirrels in one quest, then the Warden will have to deal with the squirrels invading a town he/she is visiting later. It'd be complex and hard to pull off, but if anyone could do it it'd be BioWare!

This. And not just by choosing "kill mages" or "save mages". I want to travel around, taking sides and making differences in multiple areas. Slavers, mages, templars, the chantry, dalish, city elves, maybe some dwarven politics. I want to have the ability to affect all of those things, in noticably different ways on each playthrough.

I didn't do much of anything to become "the most important character in the Dragon Age world". Hopefully in the next one they'll give me a chance to make some kind of a difference.

I think I'd like some more information about the things that the Dragon Age games so far haven't discussed, like the Chasind or whatever else is out there. You know, some new lore.

There is so much lore already that they have not explored.. we have only touched the surface on the possibilities that Thedas offer, like Orlais with their brutal Chevaliers that can do whatever they want could make some tensions. The Dragon Hunter idea sounds awesome, the dragons looks like they have returned in some number and they just love to wreck villages. I would like to have some big angry Qunari companion again, the Arishok was realy cool. A qunari mage that managed to flee before he got blinded and horns removed would be interresting

More politics, less darkspawn and demons.
