Feastday Gift: Armor polish (that increases defense bonuses of course)...the only downside could be Varric commenting on how often he 'polishes the armor'.
Feastday Prank: 'Tournament of Thrones' by Martin B. B. George. An in-depth look on how the past 200 years worth of Antivan princes have used a combination of bribery and assassination to remain in power, sometimes for as long as two months. A great read for anyone wanting to enter the world of politics. (Grants a bonus to damage.)

A shame, really, that there's only one possible gift for him. Shame that some people got two and some only one. Then again, Sebastian also took a vow of poverty so he's probably not allowed much.
I think it was brought up here a while ago that Meghan Veal's... pendant, I think, an item you pick up from one of the Flint Mercenaries, was a missed opportunity for a gift. For some reason, I had always assumed it was a sister or a cousin, but it may have very well been his mother.
The more I think about it, actually, the more disappointing it is. Sebastian may have been a wild child, but I have no reason to believe he hated or was completely estranged from his family. He at least respected his grandfather, I can only assume he misses him as well as the rest of the family. Even though he would have died if he had been with him, that would not stop the feeling of regret. What might have been his last words to his father before he got sent to the Chantry, do you think? The last words spoken before he never sees him again? Does Sebastian regret it?
Would have been a good chance to establish common ground, since Hawke has suffered loss of close family and fairly recently. The other love interests are... distant from any family. Those memories seem to be far away and clouded at best. Anders remembers his mother and has the pillow, but who knows how long ago that was... and he mentions it to Varric, not Hawke. Fenris has a sister, but even if she lives, I don't think they're looking to patch things up. Isabela mentions a mother who was a pretend seer but... that's it. Merrill's case is a bit different as she's from a different society altogether, although she was taken away from her biological family.
I guess what I'm trying to say is there could have been a touching, "I know how you feel" moment or two.

But voila:
My newest playthrough, in which I finally rivaled him, made me like him even more^^
It shows how strong he really is.
Seb is now my favorite char after Varric and Aveline.

I didn't have the heart to do it at first either, but being his rival is not evil. There are probably a few things that gain his disapproval which are malevolant, but there's just enough, I think, that you can pick your battles.
And I believe he is a strong fellow either way, he just... well, he's a product of his upbringing, for one. And there was always one flaw of his I could relate to... being in a comfort zone. Knowing something and wanting to stay there, even if it's not ideal or even good for him, it's familiar, it's comfortable. This seems to anger some people, which... perhaps means they have a greater resolve. When they want something, they just do it. But not all people are like that, some people really are the only ones holding themselves back.
Also, since you brought up Varric, I don't believe I've ever shown this one:

I don't know what's going on here, but I like it.

Also, doesn't anyone of you also think that Seb would make a good templar?
Would also fit pretty well to his character.

Varric says that Hawke leaves Kirkwall after some time and being Viscount. I am wondering if Hawke leaves Kirkwall to go to Starkhaven with Sebastian.
I must say I like a friendshiped Sebastian more than a rivaled Sebastian but I can't really see any of my Hawkes joining the chantry and being chaste for the rest of her life. But with a rivaled Sebastian their relationship feels not so based on feelings but heavily focussed on politics. But maybe this is only my impression.
Ah and I really hate the flirt dialog of Hawke for Sebastian - it may be fitting depending on the Hawke you are roleplaying but this is so cheap/direct and not suited for a Hawke who is really looking for a serious relationship with Sebastian and not for a night only.

In a way the think I like about he Sebastian romance is that, unlike the other freindship/rivarly romances in the game, it actually MATTERS how Hawke romances him. Both relationships do not appear to be almost identical to each other. I like the friendship/rivarly system in the game. It's definitely not perfect, but it is something I'd like to see developed.
I actually enjoy the interaction of Sebastian with Bethany in the DLCs, especially when Hawke isn't Sebastian's lover. IF there are more DLCs for DA2, I would like to see THAT relationship develop, even if it doesn't end up with a true romance.

Maybe I'm greedy, but... no thanks. It's already annoying enough that Hawke practically has to strut around the Chantry in her panties to get Sebastian's attention, but then Bethany whines about her life once and Sebastian is eager to lavish her with compliments. What the hell.
Jennifer said Sebastian's story isn't over yet, so I'm hoping there's still some DLC left and BioWare hasn't abandoned it. I will have a sad if they do.

Though I'm against it from the other side. I don't want Sebastian coming anywhere near my younger sister; I'd rather have her be with someone who never considered turning in my own girlfriend and other friend to the templars, thanks.

What is the meaning behind it? I know you get an archievement when you have 100 gold but there has to be more to it then that.
The letter is about Seb's rival to the throne.
Any thoughts?
