Mark Darrah just confirmed that there are no more DA2 dlc. Confirmed that there was also planned expansion called Exalted March, but it was cancelled in favour of 'other DA oppurtunities'. Assuming Sebastian's story would have been wrapped up in this expansion, it's probable that since it got cancelled his story in considered complete as is.

Needless to say, I am incredibly bummed by this.

MAKER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :crying::crying::crying:

I was really hoping for a couple more DLC to round out the "extras for companions" theme they had going (Carver/Bethany, Varric, and Anders in Legacy, Isabela and Aveline in Mark of the Assassin), with one for Fenris and Merril, and then a final one for Sebastian.

But now Hawke's story feels extremely incomplete. I'm more crushed than I was at the end of ME3. :crying:

Such sad news, indeed.

Nevertheless, we have lovely writers such as Lywinis to fill the void where the game left off as well as those other great works from many fellows of our fandom. With fanfiction, we may survive but accept the things we cannot change.

I am content, whatever the case.

Feel the same. I really grew on the character and wanted some closure.Image IPB
The unanswered questions will stay unanswered.  Having trouble not to get frustrated here.

SIGH.

This was the one thing I really wanted from DLC. I don't see Sebastian's story being told in DA3, he's a pay DLC character from the last game, it's very unlikely that they'd revisit even the main characters as anything but quick cameos.

I really felt like Sebastian's story had only just begun. SIGH.

This is where the fangirls start to hate me...:

I do share Syllogi's fear that, as he's a DLC character, his story will not continue...

....But. I'm quite thankful that Sebastian hasn't been reduced to a quick "expansion" or DLC pack to wrap up his story, because i honestly believe he's worth more than that.

Between what little we know of his past, with the rebellion, debauchery, practical abandonment, grief and pain. And his present of unyielding justice, never ending self-doubt and uncertainty, with an extremely large dose of passion, that he barely holds in check all game.

Sebastian's potential is simply worth more than Dragon Age: The Generic 4 Hour "Expansion Pack".

Would i like to see him return? Yes, as a staple companion in the next Dragon Age game. Preferably handled better than the majority of recent abominations Bioware have had the gall to call "Characters".

But i would rather not see him at all than have his story wrapped up in some hack job expansion that Bioware pulled out of their dirty, dark, behinds.

So much for my mage-hating vicountess Hawke helping Sebastian re-take Starkhaven and then leading an Exalted March on Kirkwall at his side. ;(

Considering that they did say that some of the important things in the exanpsion would have to be included in the future of dragon age we might still see Sebastian. Who knows he could be one of the reaccuring characthers since he is plot shielded and still have a lot of potential for going very wrong instead or very right.

In the end if you choose either Mage or Templar side/friendship or rivalry with Sebastian the outcome pretty much stayed the same. It wasn't explicitly stated what he would do in the end. Staying in Kirkwall would not be logical because the chantry stands no more and the person he wanted to stay there for (reverent mother) is dead. This means in my opinion that he returned to Starkhaven.

He can be wrapped up in the story of DA3 easily.
I for one hope so. really liked the character. If the REAL romance option would have been there I would go for it.Image IPB

His half-romance status proberly prevents him from being a full romance, but then again I don't care about the romance because I would never be able to romance someone pro-chantry as him. I just think he is a good characther and would like to see him not be forgotten.

Hey everyone.

I've decided to play DA2 again, and I can't for the life of me remember something.

If I become friends with Sebastian, Will he still want to return to Starkhaven if I keep telling him he should, or is that just Rivalry that he returns?

@saM: As far as I remember, he will stay until the end anyway. You can't really get rid of him. Btw, I can't recomnand romancing him... a bit boring and no sex...

I believe you need to rival him for that. And let the desire demon talk as long as possible to him during his quest in act 2.
I've friended him and kept telling him to retake Starkhaven, but he still decides to reamin in the Chantry if he is friended.

a bit boring and no sex...

I'm curious. If Sebastian had a fully written romance with as much romantic dialogue as Fenris, Anders, Merrill or Isabela, yet had "no sex" would he still be considered a boring romance?

I'm not picking a fight or anything, i'm just genuinely curious. People seem to base "romance" largely on sex scenes these days and i'm interested to see if it's really such a big deal.

I romanced Sebastian knowing there's no sex scene, I like Sebastian because of how he is. I guess, it all depends on the player's game play. For me, sex is not such a big deal as long as you are happy with what you have.

It's only if you rival him that he says he plans on returning to Starkhaven. However, if you let Anders live, it is implied that he'll go back to Starkhaven, friend or rival, and you lose him forever.

+1

I love Sebastian the most out of all the LIs, so even though he's not a "real" romance option and doesn't get all the romantic scenes/dialogue that the others get, he's still my canon Hawke's LI. Headcanon/fanfiction is helpful for filling in all those missing pieces. ;)

Just wish that in a friendmance you didn't have to accept his chaste marriage proposal to flag the romance for import. It's not really the chaste part that bothers me, but my Hawke doesn't want to be a Chantry sister, she wants to go out and swing her two-handed axe around at baddies. If the chaste marriage option was still there, but Hawke didn't have to be a Chantry sister, I'd have gladly taken that option.

To me it's not necessarily the lack of sex scenes (don't get much of a sex scene with Fenris either), but the overall lack of romantic interaction with Sebastian. I admit I haven't completed a romance with him, but all I got were terrible flirts coming out of my Hawke's mouth and Sebastian being shocked. That Sebastian doesn't even come to talk to you after Leandra's death adds to the romance feeling empty and not real. I know that's not the characters' fault but Bioware's, and it's a shame. They could have created more tension between the characters. I think that would have made it more interesting, Sebastian struggling with his feelings and the desire the keep his vows. I don't need him to break them, but just the struggle would be interesting. Now he just happily proposes a chaste marriage out of the blue. That is more than a bit odd, since all Hawke's flirt lines seem to be about sex (which annoyed me very much).

Well put, renjility. That in itself would have made the romance feel more complete, at the very least. A comfort scene would have certainly added depth after the death of Hawke's mother, showing a greater, more personal side of his feelings. To be honest, as a Brother in the faith, his input during such a dark time would definitely be more of a relief to a somewhat religious Hawke or any person for that matter.

That, and Sebastian had lost his family in a brutal way himself. He, of all companions, would know best how Hawke feels at that moment.

What are they doing over there??? Come BioWare I'd pay a lot of money for a Sebastian DLC!

I keep throwing money at my screen but nothing's happening. :(

Really wish they would have finished the Exalted March expansion, I'd like Hawke's story to feel complete, like the Warden's did. (well, I think it did). And of course, more Sebastian!

While i do agree, Sebastian didn't receive the attention and development of other characters, which greatly hindered his romantic interactions, that's unrelated to my original question.

Eranelle wrote...

This is my stance on romantic interests, as long as there's some genuine romantic content and a Player can interpret the relationship as they see fit, then it still constitutes a romance.

The reason i asked is due to the fact that so many people seem to disregard romances simply because there is no "Fade To Black Implied Sexy-Time". The amount of times i've had to explain my opinion on romantic content, and how players can interpret it, is untrue and the end result is always people telling me i'm "wrong".

Like i said, it was genuine curiosity at other people's opinions, it's nice to know i'm not alone in mine.

PinkDiamondstl wrote...

I wouldn't. As i mentioned in my post earlier on this page, i'd rather not see him at all than see him in a hack-job DLC expansion.

The thought of his story being completed in a 3 hour span of story just... *Shudders*

Quick question about Sebastian's romance - if you marry him through a friendmance, but let Anders live does he still head on back to Starkhaven and promise to bring an army on Kirkwall?

Yes. Letting Anders live = losing Sebastian forever. Even if you let Anders live but refuse to let him come with you, Sebastian will leave. (So you lose both of them). Anders has to eat murder knife if you want to keep Sebastian.
