Wow. He doesn't really take those marriage vows seriously does he? ;) Thanks much for the quick answer. :)

Hrmmm, I'm on the fence about that. On one hand, moar Sebastian! On the other hand, I'd like him to stay with my Hawke. I'd be happy if the DA3 protagonist went to Starkhaven and we got a Sebastian cameo. I don't think I'd want him as a companion again, he's part of Hawke's entourage for me.

What we really need is a Dragon Age Gaiden game, starring Sebastian, Fenris, and Hawke. :D

I am not sure where I'd want him ... well except in my room heh.

But I'm just disappointed that we didn't get much with him. Not much backstory and even in the DLC it felt so meh (at least to me).

I'd like a Seby cameo in DA3 though. I have a feeling though, we'll be in Orlais this time around.

He should have been a full companion/LI from day 1 .I like him more then any of the rest of them ......even Anders.I will be crushed if he's not in DA3.

Yes, he should have been. I would be crushed not to at least SEE Seb in DA3. ME3 had all DLC characters appear in game. It was a really nice touch. But...that being said Dragon Age is not Mass Effect. I would love to see choices matter more because the end of DA2 with Anders/Seb...that arch could be amazing.

Interestingly I was reading fanfiction last night that didn't have Sebastian in and he felt very....absent. I only downloaded the DLC a few months ago so played the game twice without him in it. But now I can't imagine him not being there. He seems as much a part of the team as Isabela or Anders to me now...

I met Sebastian for the first time the other night - I was not disappointed Image IPB.

I have yet to get to the end and romance him, but so far no matter what, I find him one of the most enjoyable companions right alongside there with Varric.

The chaste thing does not bother me, but in my Fanfic I have planned, I have a way to confront/resolve that issue. I spent along time in character thinking about being that in love with a person and not being able to touch them in anyway, let along intimately.

Hopefully I will get the story out of my head and out where it can be read by others. I have so many WIP fics but thats how I roll I guess.

So yea, Image IPB the Basty

It occured to me earlier today that Sebastian is kind of the Doctor Zoidberg of the party. Virtually everyone either berates or teases him, even Merrill. Nobody except Hawke ever expresses any sympathy for him, and nobody really warms to him except for Bethany. It may be because he only becomes a party member halfway through the story — at that point, everyone's been hanging out with each other for three years.

EDIT: And come to think of it, he even filled this role with his own family. In his own words, his parents wanted the heir and the spare, but he was just an afterthought. Worse, he was such an embarrassment that they stuck him in the Chantry.

He's the Zoidberg to his friends AND family.

Does that also mean that if he breeds he'll die and that's why he won't give Hawke any nookie? :P

Fenris seems to get along fine with Sebastian, Sebby even offers to let Fenris come back to Starkhaven with him. I don't remember Merrill ever teasing him, she's always asking questions about the Chantry and whatnot and then gives some derp response when he answers her, but they seem to get along fine for a Chantry Loyalist and a Cute but Dumb Blood Mage. >.> Isabela teases him, but she teases everyone, so I don't know if that really counts or not? Bethany can just keep her mitts off of what my Hawke is trying so hard to get her hands on.

The rest? Yep, they don't seem to like our dear Chantry Boy. But the same could be said of Anders, the further you get into the game, the more he seems to be disliked by everyone.

So I recall earlier in this thread that Jennifer Helper said his story wasn't finished, but with the end of DA2 does that mean it is? I want so much to see him in the next Dragon Age and I would be so disappointed if I didn't; However, I would like to see him as a full fledge romance option. He's HOT!!

I'd assume that more of his story was supposed to be expanded on in the Exalted March expansion, but since that was axed, I'd have to say his story is done, sadly. The most we can be hopeful for is a cameo in DA3 or maybe a comic/novel/some other media about him. *sigh*

I'm still irked by the fact that even if you marry Sebastian, if you save Anders he leaves you and says he's going to bring back an army from Starkhaven. I admit I've not played this myself (have heard from others as per this thread) but that seems so totally outwith his character to basically ignore his wedding vows and abandon his wife that it sort of changes my opinion of him. Maybe I'm wrong and have been overestimating his loyalty.

I'm actually not sure if Sebastian and Hawke get married before or after the events of the Act 3 finale. If Legacy is done post Campaign, they've gotten married sometime before that, not sure about during Act 3. (if anyone has done so can confirm/deny this?)

Can you imagine what would happen if you could keep both Sebastian and Anders only by friendmancing Sebastian? The amount of outcry and QQ and all that? Obviously Sebastian is not one of the more popular LIs (or characters for that matter), so I can imagine people would be furious that only Sebastian friendmancers got to keep "the only healer" and the DLC character just because of an optional feature.

But Sebastian isn't the only LI who can leave Hawke high and dry. Isabela can run off and never come back at the end of Act 2 if your friendship/rivalry isn't high enough, romance or no. Fenris/Merrill will abandon you during the finale and then fight you if you're not maxed with them and you choose the side they don't agree with, even if you romanced them. And of course Anders, if friendmanced, will NOT side with the Templars no matter what and will fight you. So they all have their breaking point, although it's dependent on the friend/rival system, Sebastian is just special in the fact that his is dependent on another party member's life. (Like Alistair and Loghain in DAO, you could be maxed and in love with Alistair, but if you make Loghain a Grey Warden, he won't stay with you no matter what.)

With regard to the timing of Legacy, it's surely got to happen before the end of the game, no? Because the inference is that Hawke and the gang fled Kirkwall pretty damn quickly if you sided with the mages. In all honesty, from what Sebastian says/does, I still find it really hard to believe he'd break and abandon his fiancé. Sebastian is all about honour and if his lover (Hawke) and best friend (Fenris) both stick with Anders...I just think he would too.

I do appreciate what you're saying about the breaking point of the others. It's just with Sebastian making such a big deal about keeping his word in the rest of the game, leaving at the end seems so odd for him.

Well I really don't see how Sebastian could have stayed! It would be akin to Anders supporting the templars. It just would not make sense for him as a companion. Now Sebastian is fairly poorly developed compared to the other companions (don't get me wrong; I do like him lots) so we don't really SEE his love for Elthina, but I do believe he has been living at that Chantry for years and years, so he has a very close relationship with this woman... almost mother-like, yes? Sebastian fans, correct me on my facts if I'm wrong xD

You can always head canon that he leaves in a huff but eventually returns to Hawke. It would always be a point of discord between them though, don't you think? (FYI I think I like that head canon xD)

P.S. If you romance Fenris then Legacy definitely happens BEFORE Act 3 (or at least before making up with Fenris) because in banter Fenris mentions "that night" with Hawke and it is apparent that they have no yet reconciled.

If Legacy is played post-campaign, story-wise it happens prior to The Last Straw. This is what the devs have said.

So yes, the chaste marriage happens during Act 3.

Interesting - thanks! This does confirm that Sebastian abandons his wife if she doesn't murder Anders... yeah I don't buy that.

Make him sleep on the couch when he returns and apologizes. Or the doghouse. And let the Mabari sleep on the couch. Image IPB

Potential fanfic there. Not necessarily what you mentioned (although that would be cute!) but a longer story involving the aftermath of him leaving her after they were married...
