Since it is only now that I am going to play the Exiled prince on my third character I kinda got curious as to what's the outcome if my PC had a romance relationship with him. There's one line that Sebastian said that made me want to draw him in a romantic way.
"I offer you no less than a Prince..."

Great lineart, Eranelle! Image IPB

Thank you. I want to give him some justice since his role in the game is so little. I actually had a couple of times that I just pause and look at his face while drawing him. I think he is definetly adorable for a choir boy... which makes him hotter that anyone in dragon age (save for Alistair).

I'll be continuing my fanart of Sebastian later or tomorrow. I totally forgot that I made plans with my brother to watch a movie called sucker punch.

I wish I could remember the name of the mod that I got for Seb - changes his face to look younger, and no more hairline - sorry, but his hairline just bugged me. Don't know why... must have reminded me of someone. Now I'm dying for some clever cookie to make a mod to imprive the 'mance - maybe add a 'damn my vows, bed NOW Hawke' scene. *innocence*

Rival romance ending.... if you get full rivarly, at the end he says that you get to marry him, but its kinda more polictical.. >.>

There's actually a cheat on how to get full rivalry in Act2. After the Harimann, Sebastian will tell you to go to the chantry to talk to him. Before talking to him talk to the grand cleric and you can repeat the "you're useless" option. each time you do that, Sebastian's rivalry will increase by 5.

There are only two things about Sebastian that I don't like:
1) I must play a female to romance him. Although I did this to romance Alistair as well, so it's not like I'm totally against it.
2) The lack of any physical contact part. I really wish he was given just a sprinkling of more cutscene romance time.

Otherwise though, he's my favorite option!

It's not the first time. There was a companion in Mass Effect 2 that can be pushed just she stops it before it can lead to a kiss. She stops after that anyway. The most Shepard gets is a hand holding. At least she halts the relationship instead of expecting a chaste marriage w/ the Champion of Kirkwall or a promise that he'd some how become prince once you become the viscount. Chaste Marriage and the renegade option almost sounds like partly a political arrangement.

I actually smirked at the chaste marriage... i mean he is after all a priest. I applaud the writers who created this character.

Anyway, from this video that I saw:
  • (2:05) Sebastian did hold Hawke's hands before he asked her to join the Chantry.
  • (2:28) Sebastian held Hawke by the arm when she said Yes!.
that's the only physical contact ever shown in the game.

the Rivalry option is a political move. After all, Hawke insulted the chantry and such. But he will come around... Sebastian will need heirs when he is king.

I always thought it was easy to rivalmance him, but it's actually harder than it looks XDI accidentally got 10 frindship points for helping Samuel D8

Also, recent Art trade with Velvet Rue. She drew me my Hawke and Sebs :3

None of the DA2 players I talk to regularly seem to like Sebastian much. They call him preachy. I don't get it: EVERY SINGLE ONE of your companions is preachy. Anders far more so than anyone else, ACTUALLY bordering on zealotry (and then... crossing that line and he keeps going...) but apparently it's bothersome because Sebastian discusses religion. *shrug* I'm not religious but I'm not bothered by his talk of the Maker. He never forces the issue, not even with people who could use being touched by the Maker instead of every sailor from here to Rivain.

Sebastian was a lot more supportive and understanding in most situations than I expected. I tried practically giving into the Desire Demon during his Act 3 quest, and he approved (like, +15 friendship). When I told the Desire Demon to shut it or Sebastian not to listen, I gained rivalry. You are a complicated man, Sebastian Vael. Thankfully you come with a rivalry bug with the Grand Cleric that I exploit shamelessly.

I have friendshipmance save and I'm about to finish the rivalmance one so woot! :D

He kind of remind me of male Leliana. I liked Leliana. She was fun to bring along. I, personally, do not follow any specific religion, as each religion has it's own little aspects that I believe in, so I really didn't mind the maker talk. If anything it was educating lore wise XD Besides, he doesn't always have a stick up his butt, her jokes around with Merril as well as Anders. XD

The funny thing is, some of the companions try to 'beat him to the punch' because they're expecting a sermon and he never delivers. He doesn't talk to anyone from a place of self-righteousness or superiority.

Players are reacting just the same, they hear him talk about religion and they automatically assume he's hyper-judgemental. When he talks to Isabela he doesn't try to shame her for her lifestyle, on the contrary he uses it as a springboard for conversation because he's been where she is now. Sebastian is in no place to judge anyone and he knows that about himself, which is what makes him a good man.

And it leads to some of the best banter in the game! This is a perfect example of what you mentioned:

Isabela: All right, let's get this over with.
Sebastian: A duel?
Isabela: No, the sermon. The finger-wagging, the guilt-trips, telling me how an unexamined life isn't worth living.
Sebastian: I wasn't going to—
Isabela: You weren't? You weren't going to tell me to comfort the needy and give freely of myself?
Sebastian: From what I hear, you already give yourself quite freely.
Isabela: Ooh. You got me there.

And more, about his own past:

Sebastian: I used to be like you, you know.
Isabela: You used to be a woman?
Sebastian: No!
Isabela: That explains a lot.
Sebastian: My family put me in the Chantry because I was giving them a bad name.
Sebastian: It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I found peace. I found a purpose.
Sebastian: Before I came here, I used to be out to all hours, drinking and whoring. I didn't believe in anything except my own pleasure.
Isabela: Why couldn't I have met you then?

My Hawke had THOSE EXACT SAME THOUGHTS. >.>

And this one's just hilarious:

Isabela: It's been years, and not once have you tried to get me to repent and turn to the Maker.
Sebastian: Preaching seldom works, Isabela. To change a person's heart, one has to lead by example.
Isabela: Huh. That makes sense. I can respect that.
Sebastian: I grew weary of the strings of nameless lovers and the nights full of mindless pleasure. You will, too.
Isabela: (Gasps) That's the cruelest thing anyone's ever said to me!
Isabela: I think I'm going to cry.

It's from Act 3, maybe you ignored either Isabela or (*gasp*) Sebastian during Act 3? Or maybe Isabela ran off more often than not without returning?

It's probably that I lost Isabela the first time and the second time forgot to take everyone with her and hear all of her convos. I was getting that bug that made her mess up my attack speed so I stopped taking her with at some point in Act 3 out of sheer irritation.

i actually thought i'd end up disliking this character as i did leliana (she just got up on a high horse a little often for my taste). but i was nicely surprised.

i find him to actually be less pushy and preachy than other companions and he's just generally nice. but what makes me like him is that he's religious but humble. i was getting tired of religious characters being self-righteous. he won big points with me when he didn't outright dismiss the elvhen gods and suggested that they may all be names to the same entity.

its tragic how rare that simple level of reason is among religious characters.

Gah! This! So much! But I guess people hear what they want to hear if they decided to dislike a character.
