This is the definition I found and it doesn't say anything about no sex after marriage.

[*]CHASTE, a.

1. Pure from all unlawful commerce of sexes. Applied to persons before marriage, it signifies pure from all sexual commerce, undefiled; applied to married persons, true to the marriage bed.
2. Free from obscenity.
While they behold your chaste conversation. 1 Peter 3.
3. In language, pure; genuine; uncorrupt; free from barbarous words and phrases, and from quaint, affected, extravagant expressions

Yeah, this is what I've always thought it meant and how I personally use it -- clarification Jennifer, pretty please? :D

I think it's pretty obvious that the friendmance will never result in sex in the way he talks of the 'purity' of their love and asks Hawke to take vows as a sister of the Chantry.

The rivalmance isn't so clear. I don't know how that one is going to end up, because Hawke can't rightly marry the Prince of Starkhaven and be mysteriously missing as well. >_>

Oh, I dunno - my Warden became queen of Ferelden, and now according to the final scene with Cass and Leli, the Warden has mysteriously gone 'pouf' too... why break the trend of my characters running off with the fairies now?

I like to think my queen Warden and the Hawke thar romanced Sebastian are off somewhere killing stuff together. They just need to find a mage and they'll even have a balanced party!

Open ended situation. The story is a tragedy anyway. I could imagine that after all the things happened to Hawke's family, Hawke wouldn't have the stomach to stay anywhere that reminds her/him of that pain. I can just fantasize that somewhere out there Sebastian is looking for her like a Disney film. (LOL)

Besides, Chantry gets destroyed in the end.

I am hoping for an expansion. It could be better implemented than DLC, and would depend upon the DA2 import. I imagine Sebastian would take back Starkhaven either way, regardless if Anders is killed or not. Maybe Sebmancers will get their way with him regardless if it's a friendmance or rivalmance?

Then that would mean another decision in a game with little impact. :/

I have doubts that bioware will create an expansion that has Hawke in it. Would be cool tho if that ever happens. I'd certainly buy that just to see Sebastian again. haha

Is it just me, or did anyone else get a bit jealous of Elthina, the way Sebastian was acting over her? There was a few times when I thought, "Oh, you love your precious Elthina so much, why don't you just be in a chaste marriage with HER!" lol

I would think Elthina became Sebastian's surrogate mother when he was placed in the chantry at age 13.

Besides, Hawke has many, many more years of 'happy fun time' style of sinning left in her, whereas even if Elthina hadn't been murdered, one look at Seb's naked self would have given the old biddy a heart attack.

I agree with this, too. Since Sebastian asks Hawke to join the chantry, I believe he is talking about a life devoted to the maker that they would share - and completely without sex .

I'll definitely go down the rivalmance path Image IPB.

Not at all. Elthina was a mother to him. Considering how distant his parents were, she was probably more a mother than his real mom was.

Agree with the above bolded part. And I truly liked Elthina; she was a nice lady.

Sure, she was NICE, but for some reason she still irritated me. I guess I was hoping for a less 'let the maker decide' stance and more of a 'the maker has chosen you, hawke, go forth and slay in his name' kind of thing. But then again, I'm twisted. Which would explain why my Hawkes feel the deep-seated need to rip Choir-Boy's armor off and introduce him to the pleasures of the secular world.

I loved Elthina as a character. My Hawke appreciated her a lot for trying to remain neutral and a voice of reason but was irritated by her refusal to get to safety.

I found a very promising fic today: http://lady-boromir....com/101156.html

Image IPB  As others have pointed out, I see more of a mother-son dynamic.  They also argue- a lot.  I'm not sure what there'd be to get jealous over.

Does it always have to be about sex?  I think people just can't imagine someone who's both celibate and yet not unhappy or secretly obsessed.

Not that everyone in the Chantry is celibate- that seems to be a misnomer carried over from Catholicism and from the few who do take such a vow.

 OK, people: Sebastian.
I just had to drop by and throw in my support for Seb because I just bought his DLC this weekend and HULLY CARP I adore him. I love how is faith is a big part of his character but never obnoxious (indeed, his conversations with Fenris were some of my favorite party banters in the entire game.  Made me appreciate both of them more) and I say this as a tired 'ole atheist.  I also appreciate that he's such a human character--He's an excellent depiction of a young man with a little hotheadedness who wants to do what is right for himself and others, but isn't quite sure what that means yet. Also: DAT ACCENT.

/gush

It makes me so sad that there isn't more content to his romance, but I'm going to make a rogue for my next PT and go for it anyway...question is, rival or friendmance?  On the one hand, I'm OK with a chaste marriage, but a religious one? ...Is it just me, or does Hawke (no matter how you play her) seem rather irreverant and non-religious? I think it'll be hard for me to roleplay a Hawke that actually agrees to becoming a sister of the faith when she's off killing people every night.

On the other hand, I hate getting rivalry points with anyone but carver.:pinched:

Which do ya'll prefer, rivalmance or friendmance with Sebastian?

Me: Friendmance.. for Various Reasons....

Friendmance:

Gets an somewhat stated ILY at the end... and you kinda have to work for it..

I actually adore the Idea of a chaste marriage! Whos says you need to bed someone to declare it love?! pwuahahaha! I will do just fine tyvm~! :D

Rivalmance:

Purely Polictical Sounding.. because if you read the codexes.... he's in desperate need of allies and troopes to take back his throne..

Plus... >:I My Mage did it and I wasn't even aiming for his rivalmance... hell... she was with Fenris and she hit the last line on his quest.. and she got it..

yup.. as I said.. purely polictical...
