Hi there, just chiming in with a question or eight two about Sebastian that I can't seem to find anywhere (and with Livejournal still having it's issues, I have no outlet *sadpanda*). Right, so questions!

I actually haven't had a chance to have an in game romance experience with Seb yet. Funny story, first PT, I had no guide and just kind of went with my gut and ended up getting face nom'd by Anders.
That romance was ok, but insanely tragic and angsty (God, DAMMIT ANDERS. -.-) so I made my second PT romance Fenris.
Which I like.
A lot.

This latest PT though, I was trucking along intending to see the Rivalmance for Fenris when I said, ah what the hell, and flirted with Sebastian and...
that was probably the most ADORABLE thing ever.

So I youtube'd all the scenes with Seb. I have to say, I like his Rival path more. I don't get all swoony over the idea of him being prince. To me, it's a job. He has a responsibility. Poop or get off the pot, and stop waffling, guy.

So instead of creating a 5th PT (yet... I really can't play again all the way through this soon x.X), I'm crafting headcannon around the Seb 'mance. Because really, it does seem a tiny bit stilted because there isn't the sort of recognition/'length' the 'official' romances get, but I guess that's for future DLC to decide? I'm curious though, if you never buy the Seb DLC, how would a DLC based on a separate DLC character work? Just seems like it can't be done, or at least not well, unless that future DLC offers Seb as a package deal?

Another question I have: We have very little information on Starkhaven. I... have this aftermath ficlet idea I'm tossing around, but I kind of need to know what the void is going on with Starkhaven by the end of the game...

The most I can figure out, pick up from what Seb says is there is someone ruling Starkhaven that isn't a Vael... and they had help from the folks in Kirkwall to eliminate the Vaels... but who's the usurper? Are they running Starkhaven? If so, it makes the Rival path of pushing him to become Prince again all that more interesting, but if the place is just kind of ... sitting there for 7 years and just vegging...

I guess this is what makes the place a great staging area for more DLC huh?

What are your thoughts? I'd love to pick everyone's brain! I'm still new to the world of Thedas at large (though I played DAO a lot and REALLY MISS FERELDAN T.T).

Hi Stephi! I know you from the Garrus forums.   I miss Ferelden too.

I think they'd offer it as a package deal.

Starkhaven is being ruled by a cousin of his, I believe. Distant but the claim is there. His name is Goran Vael. It's mentioned in a diary entry written by Lady Flora Harimann and Sebastian mentions the relation at some point.

The ruler of the city-state is always referred to as Prince not King. One of Sebastian's ancestors declined the title of king and took prince instead.

Starkhaven and Kirkwall are the two cities in the Free Marches that have circles. Starkhaven's is burned down in a mage rebellion.

It is the largest city in the Free Marches.

Starkhaven's most famous dish is fish and egg pie. (forgot to mention this part is copied from the wiki) Three deboned fish, caught just that day, were cooked in a porcelain vessel with boiled eggs, dried fruit, spices, and thickened cream, all topped with a light crust.

Rival romance is definitely the way to go. Chaste marriages are so... limiting. Plus if he is prince he will need heirs. I can't wait to see what you come up with for your fics!

P.S. Anders made me cry... twice.

And thanks for that, I should have checked the Starkhaven article under the wiki but my brain wasn't thinking that. XD Just read the whole stub on Sebastian and was all d'awwwww.

I almost snarfed my drink when I read the banter between Seb and Varric. Priceless!

Though, I guess since Sebastian's story isn't complete... arg... AU stuff, here I come. *flails*

EDIT: Also, I think chaste marriage thing doesn't work out, due tot he fact that chantry is destroyed. Also concidering Hawke and his/her companions are on the run afterwards, I do believe he went to Starkhaven regardless, since varric says all the companions left Hawke's side eventually.

When Anders did his thing I actually reacted fairly close to the way Sebastian did. I liked Elthina. 

I thought the same thing Kyle; Sebastian goes to Starkhaven anyway may as well make him mine in the process.

I'm following the headcanon route as well....bit of a mix between the rivalry and friendship paths with a little bit of extra content thrown in (I'm not happy with the idea of Hawke throwing her life into the Chantry pretty much solely for a guy). Trying to get myself to write it, as well,  but I'm too lazy.

The thing that is killing me to death is that there is A LOT of potential in this romance that isn't explored because he's DLC and has so little content as is.  (Love vs. Duty vs. Faith, temptation, MOAR about his family...I'd even like to hear a little more about his views on the mage/templar issue, although I say it tentatively because I was a little sick of hearing about it from everyone and their momma by the game's end.  That's one of the reasons I though Elthina was so kickass.) I wish Bioware would stop making awesome DLC characters and then putting less content into them because they're "extra", my poor little heart can't take it.

Guess that's what fandom's for, eh?
