I support Sebastian:

So do I, but supporting Seb and hating Anders don't always go hand-in-hand for everyone, even though it seems that way sometimes :crying:  Why the hell can't my favorite characters just get along?

I was actually a bit sad upon realizing Aveline didn't care much for Sebastian. Just assumed they'd get along, they're...alignments match up better than some of the others.

Come to think of it...besides Fenris, is there any other party member that gets along with him to a degree? Kind of sad and funny. Not that it's one big, happy family to begin with, but...man.

As far as Anders go, it's a difficult position those two put you in, but I like him. I actually approve of the "new" him in the sequel (don't get me wrong, I do miss him talking about knitting and chapeus, but in Awakening he struck me as a...more clever Alistair. At least now he's more of his own character). I remember when he showed me his little list to try and convince me to support his ideas...I thought it was cute. I was mad, really, that he was making it harder. But that's the beauty of these games. The characters may be swayed certain ways on certain matters, but they have flaws and alliances that even the borderline Sue PC cannot change.

I intentionally made a Religious Bruiser kind of Hawke to be with Sebastian and...deal with Anders. I feel bad, but...if these games have taught me anything about myself, it's that I'm on the conservative side. In both games there's at least one instance where a character simply asks too much of me/my PC.

Hey fellas. A bit confused here. I rival-romanced Seb, and he said something like (in a musing voice) "hm, a prince of starkhaven and a viscountess of Kirkwall etc, etc...", but Varric never mentioned the romance in his epilogue.

I supported the mages in the final battle, does that nullify the romance, or was there more to the romance that I missed?

You didn't miss anything. This just happens. Posted Image Hopefully things will be cleared up a little better at some future point?

Sebastian's story is not finished yet. Don't worry.

Well...Varris IS a less than reliable narrator, if that's any consolation XD

I think they just forgot to account for the DLC, personally.

I think Seb and Merrill actually get along pretty well.  They're quite joke-y with one another.  And Izzy gets along with Seb about as well as she gets along with everyone else, which is to say she mercilessly mocks him and he gets flustered, the poor dear

Ah, I don't bring Isabela around much, on account of me not being a huge fan of hers and, well...why would I even need her when I have two dashing archer rogues?

But I do recall one banter where he asked her why she even stuck around, she responded that she has a tab at the Blooming Rose, and that...apparently causes him to blush. While I'd rather Hawke be the source of blushing, I would still love to actually see it.

Merrill seems to...deflect the things Sebastian says, but that's only based on what I've seen. I heard something about a banter between those two, Anders...involving bunnies. If this is true, I must hear it.

She does, but I get the impression that their religious differences are more in good humor, as opposed to the vitriolic arguments Seb has with Anders.  I mean, it's Merrill we're talking about.  The girl isn't the brightest or the wisest, but she hasn't a mean bone in her body.

That is correct...she is mostly just poking at Sebastian n having fun or making jokes...though the one about the story of Andraste is hilarious...especially at the end when she says " Ohh i dunno... it's a nice story n all but I think it's got some holes." ( which to be honest I tend to agree with her).

I think my favorite is the one where Merrill suggests that the Maker make his light less shiny so Seb wouldn't need so much armor.  I don't know if it's the way she says it or what, but I almost spit out my drink laughing.  That's when I decided that I <3 Merrill even if she can be a bit daft.

I know the exact banter your talking about and the first time I heard it, I had that exact same reaction! Sebastian didn't even know what to say to that...just like the first time you hit a flirt option with him...not only is the dialog perfect but his reactions is PRICELESS..
Hawke : Oh, I can think of a few services you can handle for me...sometime.
Sebastian: Oh...Oh, maker, have mercy on my soul( or something similiar). :innocent:
*think sebastian damn near jumped outa his skin when she say that.*

* also thinks as a straight man...he find his(seb's) reaction damn hilarious because how  to point Lady Hawke is about getting with him*

Poor Seb.  This happens to him a lot.  Someone says something totally weird or provocative or embarrassing, and he's like:  or   It made me want to pat him on the head and squeeze his Chantry boy cheeks.  I think my Hawke started calling him Choir Boy after Varric gave him that nickname.

My last one(Marina, who is my avatar) and my current Hawkette (Aliesha who is romancing Fenris) tended to think the same and just do it to tease him...

Merill is naive. She is not capable of making fun of Seb.

Au contraire.

Merrill: If your city was stolen, why didn't you just call the guards?
Sebastian: I'm afraid the matter can't be handled by guards, Merrill.
Merrill: Aveline could help you! She's very good at making thieves give things back. I think it's because she's so tall.
Sebastian: This is beyond even Aveline's power, I'm sorry to say.
Merrill: Are you sure? Have you seen her hit people?

Yes, I thought so too. With the tone of her voice. She's not joking.

Hmmm... I think that there can be many surprises coming up for Hawke who romances Sebastian. This thing with him being chaste in DA2 does not in any way mean that he is innocent. He was a bit of a wild boy earlier. Wonder how Hawke will react if Sebastian would go back a bit to that nature. Not that I would see him being unfaithful or anything. But if he would choose to take a more active romantic move. Would he do it in a sweet Alistair way or would the old bad boy make a return. Guess we just have to wait and see. I think that there is more to this chantry boy than what meets the eye.

I don't think Merrill jokes at all. She simply makes us giggle just being her. Although her talk about the Chantry makes a lot of sense.

I was under the impression that although Aveline didn't really approve of Sebastian at first, that he kind of grows on her as things go along. That's pretty much how Aveline is with everyone (except Anders, who I'd say the very opposite about). She tells him that he's smart and would make a very capable ruler. In the beginning she's more "I have no issue. Assuming the fight for your title stays in Starkhaven. Exactly like it hasn't."

I dunno, I just felt like Sebastian got along with pretty much everybody, Anders and Verric aside.

I wish I could have seen what Carver thought of him. He hates Anders, but he gets all stuttery and adorable whenever he speaks with Fenris.

Carver: I have a tattoo. It's a mabari hound.
Fenris: Mine are made of lyrium and I can rip people's heart out if their chest. Can you do that?
Carver: Err... I can make it bark?
Fenris: Please, don't.

(Not exactly how it's said, but still funny)

"Does it curse you with the ability to reach into a man and pull out his insides?"

Isabela says something along the lines of, "I'd rather see it wag." XD

His banters with Isabela are priceless.

Personally, I think Carver would've been crabby with Seb because he's crabby toward everyone.  And Seb would kind of humor him the way he does Merrill, except that instead of making him laugh a la Merrill, Carver would just get all huffy.

Oh little bro.  I <3 you so much.  Come to think of it now, I <3 all the companions.  I'm like Kelly from ME2 or something.

Oddly enough after doing a mage play through, I actually like Carver a lil as well( before the game was realeased I couldn't stand him and had almost refused to play a mage for that reason). I also liked how if you were aggressive Carver(which bumped up his rivalry status) you could eventually tell him about himself and "how he is always riding on your coat tails n needed to stop being such a douchebag." I tend to have wanted to see a Bethany/Sebastian banter in the game...as I believe those 2 would have made a decent couple...if Lady Hawke was not chasing him.

*damn, really wonders about himself sometimes and why he enjoys roleplaying the crap outa playing a female character where as his male character's personalities are more similiar to his own if he were in these circumstances...*

Carver! I had such a weird relationship with him at first. I had no idea what to think of him beyond, "He's whiny as hell, but I can at least sympathize with it." I was determined to be his friend even if he fought me at every turn. ...Then that tattoo banter with Fenris came up and there was no turning back. <3

I think Carver and Sebastian might have been able to relate to each other pretty well. Carver feels like he's been overshadowed by his mage siblings, and Sebastian was overshadowed by the "heir and the spare." That probably wouldn't stop Carver from grumbling about something if he felt so inclined, but on the whole I think their exchanges would be pretty cordial. ...Maybe.

I loved Sebastian's conversations with Isabela. I was hoping for a bit of a role reversal after he revealed his hedonist tendencies. I can't help but think of how golden it would have been if a priest had made Isabela blush like a school girl.

That could be very amusing. I don't know if it's a real trend or anything, but I have happened upon some fans who find Isabela hilarious and Sebastian boring (boo to that, by the way, but you know...that's just me). I love Sebastian as is and am a firm believer in redemption, but how wonderfully ironic it would be if he revealed...past activities to put Isabela's to shame. For her eyes to widen, utterly shocked. All the better if Varric was there.

I can't say much about Carver since I've yet to play as a Mage (I'm a...very slow player, might help if I didn't check the wiki before every quest just so I can max out friendship/rivalry). Really, I want to soon mostly so I can meet him...but it's been a little disheartening to hear a lot of...negative things. Then again, I seem to like characters that get a lot of guff (Leliana, Wynne, Anora...I expected Seb to be a lot more popular, honestly). Plus...he can't help being a teenager, right? Posted Image

I have wondered what interaction between Sebastian and Bethany/Carver. Bethany's pretty agreeable, so I don't imagine much tension...though perhaps he would encourage her to go to the Circle, thus making her uncomfortable. Carver wants to be a Templar, right? I'm sure Seb would be supportive of the idea, so long as his abilities and faith are strong enough.
