I found Newman devastatingly hot as Paul Atriedes in the Dune miniseries   I was so happy when I heard he was voicing Seb.

Gahh.... it is so damn difficult to not start flirting with anyone on my Sebastian Hawke =) I'm only in Act 1 and I know that if I start flirting that will be it. Keep hands on the blanket and think good thoughts. Well, it will be interesting to see how it plays out anyways. I so wish that there had been recognition from the other companions about the relationship. DA2 makes such a big point of the companions getting to know each other independently of Hawke so this really bums me. *sigh* If there had been a Varric q at least I could have roleplayed it as Hawke and Sebastian keeping their future alliance secret for strategic reasons and Varric was the only one who saw through it. Something at least.

Hope we get to continue with Hawke for a while, I want to see how this plays out in the future, and get to play it too. ( Hoping for Hawke in DA3 but that's just me)

Ohh I know that you can flirt with others.... I just can't because then I know that I will continue that romance =) this is the only way for me not to get caught up in Anders or Fenris yet again. I've tried it before.

Ooooh, okay. It's just I've read that so many time and I always thought people were saying you actually couldn't get the proposal from him. Thanks for the reply.

I blame the blasted official game guide. "Requirement! Never flirt with any other character ever!"
Lies! I'm nice to Anders so I end up going the "Doesn't mean I want you to stop." and then "Why would you hurt me?" route. And I can never resist the flirt line right after Hadriana dies. Fenris's "Don't comfort me!" Is just the best thing ever.  Also: it's weird that offering to teach Fenris to read is also considered flirting, but I must.

Maybe it's just me, but I got the impression that Sebastian's DLC was halfway between Shale (who was completely implemented and integrated into the game since she was supposed to be an actual companion) and the ME2 DLC companions.  He does end up having a lot of involvement with the templar/mage politics in Act 3.  I figured he might have been originally intended as a full companion with the base game, then was pared down to DLC for time reasons.

Is there any guides about rivalmancing him? I was trying and somehow still ended up with friendship. When I spoke to him after the Repentance quest I tried telling him to take back Starkhaven and then never got the flirt line.

There's couple quest where you get 10-20 disaproval points with him. here's some that I can remember from top of my head:

Night terrors: While he's in a party, agree to enter fade +10 rivalry, Also pick " I can't do that' when talking about making Fanryel a tranquil. +10 rialry ( +20 total, just for doing the quest)
Dissent: Let Anders kill Ella +10 rivalry ( or 15, don't remember)
Mirror Image: letting Merril have the Arulen'holn, +5 rivalry.
To catch a thief: Let Isabella keep the book, +5 rivalry ( oddly, it gives Aveline +10 friendship)
Also, choosing dirrect/rude option with Elthina, during his personal quest grants at least +5 rivalry. Not sure about any other times.
On any of his personal quests, convincing him to retake his throne, grants about 15 rivarly each. During 1st Questioning Beleives, saying " You must go back to Starkhaven" Gives you 10/15 rivalry.

To Initate Rivalmance however, you must flirt with him after Repentance. It grants you 10 friendship with him. If you have Starkhaven Bow, gift it to him, and choose dirrect answer, which will grant him 10 rivalry, but you'll be in romance with him. If you're dirrect with him post Repentance conversation, the flirt option doesn't trigger, thus you can't initiate romance with him. So you gotta be nice to him, the n you can push him towards his throne all you want afterwards.

I pursued the rivalry path with him from the moment I got him and ended up initiating the romance in a later conversation with a "Princes are sexy" flirt option followed by a "Who said 'marriage?'". So you can go the rival route in the post Repentance conversation and still initiate the romance. The flirts are just later...Just in case anyone wanted to know...

Thanks for update to the guide, never been flirty in any way, shape or form with Anders before so I'm taking notes. Got the Fenris and Ander one down pretty well so it was time for a new challenge

If I remember correctly, he says something about not "making any decisions while your heart is already taken" or somesuch. That effectively shuts down the romance.

If you continue to persue all of the flirt options with Sebastian, he'll say something during his Act 3 Questioning Beliefs. When I was with Fenris, I got "But you are meant for other things. I will always be your friend." When I was with Anders, I got, "Don't do this." Followed by his warning. "I know you and Anders are... Well, it's not my place to question, but, please, be careful. He's a dangerous man, and selfish. Whatever he promised, don't think he'll ever put you above his own needs."

Haven't seen what he says about Isabela or Merrill. And I've never tried it with Sebastian rivalry, maybe it's different?

I'd say Varric gives him a run for his money, but yes.  Sebastian is an absolute sweetheart.  He's one of the few DA2 characters I'd say is a genuinely decent person.  Of course, genuinely decent people tend to get chewed up and spit out by low fantasy IPs <_<

When with Merrill, it's pretty much the same dialog...he gives for Fenris...except he says "I know your with Merrill, so please stop...maybe in another time we could have..." I have no idea what he says with Isabella...I will find out during a future playthrough since I'm currently playing a male( which is what I am...and he kinda looks like me more or less) and that's who my current Hawke has locked onto( he is my current avatar btw).

And how about Aveline?  She comes off as pretty protective of Hawke, and she has a special dialogue for Hawke after the All that Remains quests.

I'm pretty sure "most supportive companion" depends on how you play the game as well as preference.  "Sweetest" and "most compassionate" are probably YMMV, as well.  It's subjective.

It's too bad they didn't give Seb a consolation scene, he would have donea great job.When you click on him afteward & he tells you that he's sorry about your mom & he will put up a memorial notice - it's very touching.
